UNA just moved up in 2021 with 2022 being its first year in FCS so scratch them from the above - GV had been in the NC game 6 times prior to them moving up and UNA never made it out of its region - Troy won 2 D2 NC in 83 and 87 but in the years just prior to them moving up went 4-6, 4-6 and 5-5 - so hardly dominating D2 - and J State made 4 appearances losing 3 before squeaking out a victory over Pitt State whom they lost to in its previous NC appearance - so your analogy really doesn't hold water but if it is what you need, go for it

but what? A&M is average, Auburn got waxed by New Mexico State and barely got to .500, Miss St stinks, and Arkansas is worse. FSU played preseason top 5 LSU and smoked that ass. Schedule UF annually, and unfortunately they aren't what they are used to being, yet still win with a backup qb in a rivalry game. Beat Clemson AT Clemson, which no other team has done in nearly a decade.

It should have came down to Texas vs Bama... and results on the field should have been the deciding factor. PERIOD.

A QB after a month of preparation is going to be a much different player than a QB who has been thrown in to the fire on short notice without any prep.

I mean, it’s not like they weren’t preparing since fall camp. And it’s not just one QB. They had to start a true freshman third stringer in the ACC title game because the backup has a concussion.

This will all be fixed next year with the 12-team playoff. Interestingly, the ACC played a part in delaying the expanded playoff when they teamed up with the Big Ten and PAC-12 as “The Alliance” in 2021 to oppose and delay the expansion. Otherwise, it would have started this season.
