At a lot of the $5/ticket schools this is probably fairly common. At IUP, this is a HUGE deal.
Is that just football or all sports?

I'm sure just football. IUP basketball requires gold bars for entrance.

If I had to guess this will be the end of Duane Brown at IUP.
I don't know if just going to class necessarily keeps one eligible. Sometimes people just aren't academically inclined enough to make the grade.

I'm not saying that's the case here. We don't know. For that reason I would like to give the young man the benefit of the doubt and actual encouragement that he can do what he needs to do to make the grade in the classroom if that's what he wants to do.

There is ZERO excuse not to remain eligible. It is sheer laziness and a big F you to the coaching staff, his teammates, the faculty, the university and the taxpayers and donors who may be paying his bills to be there. There are tutors available for free, note takers available for free, a writing center staffed with folks to help with papers, professors often put their notes and lectures online to review later but there is one fatal flaw in that perfect plan to keep a student, athlete or otherwise, on track to graduate THE STUDENT HAS TO GET HIS REAR END OUT OF BED AND ATTEND CLASS. That is basically it. Professors these days give points just for showing up and for participating so a grade is rarely judged solely on what the 'student" is able to learn and show on tests, its pathetic to be honest. jus sayin

            Fully agree.

He was accepted to the university and eligible to play as a freshman. That means his grades and SATs were sufficient. Show up to class and you'll have your 2.0 gpa.

He's getting a second chance. There won't be a third chance.

It just wasn't him, though. Hopefully this isn't becoming an epidemic up there.

No I was speaking in generalities about ALL students not athletes or any one athlete in particular. All students have access to the help I mentioned above. Like the old saying goes ... You can lead a horse to water but can't make it drink. Any student that "fails" out is a knucklehead pure and simple. jus sayin

The forecast is pretty crappy for Indiana tomorrow. Hopefully they can get the game in with no long lightning delays. Those are the absolute worst -- for the players and the fans.

Right now Weather underground has the rain being mostly done by 6:30 - lets hope they're correct, or even the rain comes through earlier.

I can deal with the rain.

Anything is better than that ride home from Ashland last week. That was brutal.

Didn't realize you were there. Were you near IUP24 at the end of the game when I came over?

LOL ... that was a long day. Indiana to Pittsburgh at 6am. Left the Burgh at noon for Ashland. Left the parking lot at Ashland at 945pm and then about 4 hours back.

I was good all for but that last 90 minutes. Two Red Bulls helped.

Always worth the trip when you win.

Come on guys. Get yourself the Original Monk Approved rain gear and you won't even notice the rain. This thing has kept dry in Indiana Pa, Edinboro, Slippery Rock, Inwood Wv, and Cheney. https://www.fullsource.com/river-cit...iABEgL9-PD_BwE

It can rain all it wants. Let's just avoid one of those fantastic two-hour lightning delays.
