He's fit as a fiddle, and will be very involved in fundraising.

Still to last 40 plus years at one school is a big deal because the days of that happening are long gone now.
      Way to backhand a compliment...

And there's got to be a limit to the compliment.

I suspect East Stroudsburg football was held back quite a few years by Denny doing the Paterno thing.

That's a more important job in D2 than actual coaching.

I was sad when Coach Mihalik retired at SRU. He did so much for me (and others) that went well beyond football. I'll be forever grateful to him for many things. But I'm glad his career didn't turn into a Paterno thing. He went out on top and on his own terms. I still talk to him regularly. He misses coaching, but only on Saturdays haha. I suspect Coach Douds will be the same way. He'll learn to live without running a football program. I wish him the best.

So does James Franklin continue to share all his royalties from speaking engagements with ESU? That could really really help them!

                      Re: Denny Douds retired today??

"I nudged the official in front of me and I said, 'Sir, we are going to call a fourth timeout. I know that is illegal, you're going to penalize it, but that's OK. I am retiring.' I called timeout with four seconds to go, blew the whistle, the kids came in and I told them this is what we are doing," said Coach Douds.
                      I thought it wasn't a retirement!?!?!?!

He is retiring from coaching. He will now be taking on a lead role of fundraising for the program.

From my understanding he is still a professor at the University, and will be continuing his work in that area.

There is honestly no need for that first sentence.

Just like there was no need to put his record against his most common faced coaches, but the record against first-time foes is sure listed :smile-big:

Wasn't it Mansfield who touted some kickoff return record without mentioning it came in an 84-0 loss?
