That most likely isn't happening wherever he lands. Sure it stings because I'm an Edinboro football fan, but how many times have kids been able to transfer up and succeed? Its rare.

Its a huge gamble on his part. He probably believes he has nothing to lose and he's right. He just walks away from being a legend in a small pond for a *chance* to get a shot. In my opinion he's living the Lloyd Christmas "so you're telling me there's a chance" philosophy.

I wish him the best. From what I've been told he's a great kid. But I'd never advise or recommend this move even if it weren't Edinboro losing out.
Let's just wait and see where he lands.

After graduating from HS he attended a Prep School in Ga, then he landed at D-III Randolph Macon for a semester. Then came calling Edinboro. So although he never played at Randolph Macon I am only guessing he feels like he can continue to move up. But I do agree, if he's trying to move up to FCS it might be a little difficult. But I guess he won't know unless he tries. As far as Towson University's RB situation I would not call them stacked. Their top RB only ran for 711 yards. In fact their top runner 742 by the QB Tom Flacco (Yes, Joe's brother). We will just wait and see who where he lands though.

FYI - I saw a response on his twitter page from Edinboro's RB Coach pretty much wishing him well.

He had to put it out now if he's gonna find a place to go. I think worst case for Fletcher is go to SRU and be the missing piece for them to make a run next year. I think he can play in the MAC or FCS though. Any team with a need at RB is crazy not to take a run at him. Its only a year of money and really only a semester of money.

Boro now goes into GVSU with possibly a starting RB with no college carries. If Julian Riley is here and possibly a juco. I think I saw an offer to #21 from Lackawanna...but didnt see any stats for him last year there. Not that the GVSU game is in question but coming home to Bloom the next week just got more interesting without Fletcher.

No, the worst case scenario would be for Fletcher is to go to a FCS school, that is not very good and his numbers slide. I think that the ROCK's playoff run could have only helped Hills' profile. IF he would go to the THE ROCK (again I don't think that will happen), he would not be the main focal point; in that the passing game is more developed and they want a balance, so actually his numbers could be potentially better than they were at Edinboro.

I THINK him going to SRU would be a pretty good move. He could have similar numbers as Hills. He would be behind a better OL, and would have a QB that is a threat to run (50 yard per game last year) or pass (28 TDs). But I guess we have to wait and see. The ONLY THING I don't like about the situation is that he is will be going to a new team at the end of summer, not during the 2nd semester. Unless he's CLEARLY heads and shoulders over the other RBs it could be difficult for him to earn that starting spot.

It was only a matter of time until a star walked away as a grad transfer. That's two this off-season counting the WR at Seton Hill.

See, that's one advantage of IUP players not studying. Not many are graduating early.

I do wonder how this now-crazed transfer world of college sports will alter how coaches redshirt players. On one hand, statistically, most of your freshmen class won't walk the field on Senior Day anyway. Twenty man class ... most cases lucky to see 7-8 on senior day.

the coaching approach has become to use 'em before you lose 'em

I meant SRU being his worst case but still a good situation. Worst case if you want to move up but still a good chance to be a key part of a good team. Hills missed a few games. I would think he would still do 1500+ at SRU in a pass O. And it wouldnt surprise me if the Rock coaches are thinking Hill couldve/shouldve been used more...benefiting the next rb to transfer in. When your worst case is a good move its a nice spot to be in.

I also dont think he needs to match his Boro numbers if he moves up and it still not be better for him. And at 190 lbs if he cant run a 4.4 this is all for his own entertainment anyway. And Boro right now (before whoever shows up before Aug) is looking at 3-8 to 5-6 at best for 19' so put that in perspective of where he ends up. Losing 20+ of this years roster. 2/3 of the O playmakers.

I can't imagine he lands in the PSAC. That would be a pretty big F.U. to his friends at Edinboro.

I'd guess he lands at a Youngstown State type. He has good film, speed and grades. Schools can never have enough RBs. His phone has likely been quite busy. I don't see him at the big level but who knows. Maybe Curt Cignetti comes calling.

I agree. In my opinion, anything less and it's a busted decision.

The only thing that makes me think SRU is a real possibilty is he graduates in May. Pushing things back for a D1 makes me think D2 is possible. And SRU having most of this past years team back minus a RB. YSU lost their RB too so I think YSU is in play. And didnt see a RB in their early signees.

THey have a good football atmosphere and play the Dakota's. Its "basically" MAC level football and you get a Pitt or WVU early in the year now.

Slippery Rock RB coach Billy Fessler, who seemed to be a social media connection for Fletcher, is leaving SR for Mississippi State.

Why you are ready to put your foot in your mouth? Still must wait and see, and to me that is waiting until the end of next football season. If its at Ball St or another program he must get on the field and REALLY produce.

I took a look at Ball St stats, and they don't run the ball well, with their top rusher gaining 659 yards, and who is returning. They also return their entire starting OL, graduating only 1 senior. While this situation looks somewhat promising, I would feel much better if he graduated this past Fall so he could transfer now to train with his new teammates. I still wish him well, no matter how it turns out.

Being that his first offer is Ball St you wonder if Lustig didnt put a good word in for him there. And it's better for boro if it keeps him out of the psac. I would think a mac offer would get the ball rolling with 1aa schools now. Hes no risk for a mac- 1aa school. Tie up one of your 65-85 rides for one fall.

Interesting thread on Fletch, but if he wants exposure I wonder how Ball St checks that box. I guess one can take the approach that any D1 school offers exposure.
