Meyer, Saban, etc. Those guys have more money in their assistant coaches on their college teams than they do in the NFL. Those programs have former NFL coaches helping them game plan during the week, but they don't coach on Saturday's. They are paying guys to just help game plan through the week. You're always a recruiting class away, but given the transfer portal usage now, those coaches don't have to wait long to find their next QB or key cog in their machine either. Recruiting, transfers, donors willing to pay millions of dollars for assistant coaches, etc., those things don't happen on Sunday's.
Urban Meyer's a car salesman. Most of those guys at that level are. They are control freaks too. You can do that in college, but you can't do that in the pros. You can't give pep talks, motivational speeches, etc., to motivate pro athletes. It's their job to be motivated. It's the fans job to live and die with the outcome. The players at that level, especially now, mostly don't care about the final score or if the fans/city are upset. They care about their individual performance to get their money and accolades, but Meyer's not dealing with an entire roster of Florida boys wanting to win it for the whole city of Jacksonville. He was able to get every great player in Ohio to go to Ohio State and start his "Ohio against the world" campaign back in 2015. That schtick just doesn't work at that level.
Talk about control... Alabama and Ohio State have people who are paid to monitor football player's tweets. Every time something questionable gets posted, it's removed. All designed to keep guys out of the "off field" spotlight. As we've seen in Pittsburgh, you can't necessarily stop that crap in the NFL.

I wouldn't go to an NFL game with free tickets.

Its not enjoyable. Its an odd mix of the country club set and the "gotta be drunk for everything" crowd. And its so damn expensive. Too expensive. Cheapest seats at Heinz Field are pushing $100 - and up there you're almost guaranteed to be around boorish drunks. Throw in parking and a duo is looking at $250 before buying any refreshments. The "gotta be drunk for everything" crowd really bothers me now that I'm older. I enjoy alcohol but 2 6% local beers are good enough for me. I don't need to prove anything by downing a 12 pack of silver bullets before the game. I know all the words, say many of them, but I don't need them slurringly spit-yelled onto my neck.

You get the meatheads tailgating for 5-6 hours pre-kick and then drink for the first three quarters ... we are seeing what happens.
Big difference today is it's all caught on cell phone cameras.
It's happening more and more at P5 schools, too.
One nice thing we have here in the bush league is our fans are typically seperated by the field - and about 98% of D2 doesn't serve booze inside (yet).
But, man, these NFL fights aren't like MLB jump up and down 'fights' ... these dudes are getting knocked out.

The Raiders officially released him late last night.
Ruggs was released from the hospital with minor injuries and sent to county jail. His passenger has severe injuries. The driver in the other vehicle died.
