Assuming Cam Ward goes first to Tennessee, you still have the Giants, Browns and Raiders in the top six. I know the talk is they’re all leaning in directions other than QB, but I’m not sure I’d trust that. You also have the Saints sitting at 9. Plus a team without a “need” at QB could always pull a surprise like the Falcons did taking Michael Penix. I’d be surprised if Sanders drops outside the top 10.

I think Dart was a product of Lane Kiffin’s ability to scheme guys wide open all over the place at the college level. I’m not saying Shedeur is a franchise QB, but I’d take him over Dart.
I’m with you on that. I can’t remember the guy ever playing a full season, and if we’re being honest, he wore down last season and was a non-factor down the stretch. He’s obviously been a great player, but to your point, he’s probably worth more in a trade considering the Steelers’ significant needs. I’m not sure I like any of the top QB’s in this draft enough though to move Watt to get one of them. I’m also already sick of the Aaron Rodgers drama and don’t think I can stomach a full season of it if he comes to Pittsburgh.

What a mess the front office has created for itself. The Steelers are closer to being the Jets than they are a top echelon team right now.

The problem is that I don't think he generates the return (at this point) that people think he will. He is not the consistent game-wrecker he was just a short time ago. You're seeing him start to become less noticeable in games when he doesn't generate a sack or turnover (which is happening with more regularity). The time to trade Watt would have been 2-3 years ago (because they weren't a real contender then either). But that would have been a PR nightmare so they didn't do it. These players with big ticket contracts or soon to be big ticket contracts are not generating any return in trades. We're seeing guys who are widely considered to be top flight WRs going for a mid or late round pick and nothing else. I understand that a pass rusher is different than a WR, but you see my larger point.

The Steelers are a poorly run team. They have no direction.

He didn't pick on some jabroni. This young lady comes from a powerful family (with $$). She already has a high-profile legal team.

They are going after ESPN, too.

Some think Watt would fetch them a Round 2. Some think a Round 3. The extremists think a Round 1 & 3.

As you said, it's hard to compare the positions. Most teams just want rid of these idiot, diva WRs and will settle for anything somebody will offer them. They are also more 'dime a dozen' than strong pass rushers.

That said, football isn't a one-man sport. How much of a supporting cast has Watt had the past couple years?

I'd ship him out. I wouldn't even consider paying him anywhere near what he's expected to want. They could get two (or more) pretty solid guys for the price of one. He's also getting older by the day and is hurt constantly.

They’ll settle, probably quickly and quietly, we’ll likely never know the details. Frat Bro TV like Pat’s show and Barstool, is, for better or worse, a valuable commodity with a huge audience. This will go away until the next time someone associated with one of these entities inevitably does something stupid.

Agreed. I'm not their demographic but they've taken over the golf world. You're even starting to see tour players adopt a more brash, macho persona to align.

Have you seen the golf groupies and players' wives outfits? Good Lord.

Yeah - and that surprised me with how much Paulina Gretzky's outfit upset Augusta National folks a year or two ago.

I wouldn’t pay him that either. But I also wouldn’t have ever let it get to this point. Again, I would have traded him 2-3 years ago at peak value. An organization that has direction and a plan would do that.

It’s interesting to see what “golf culture” has turned into. And for the life of me, I cannot understand how or why it ever happened. I casually follow and play. I’m not obsessed. I know who the players and big personalities are.

Ever since COVID, young men have made “golf” their personality. It’s the strangest thing I’ve ever seen. You go to the range now, and you see 16 year olds hitting golf balls with every piece of apparel imaginable. Guys who are 19-22 are playing 80 rounds a summer. This obsession with golf, specifically with younger people never existed prior to the pandemic (at least I don’t think it ever did).

During covid, golf was one of the few activities open. But that's also when YouTube golf came out. It offered alternatives to the stuffy country club elitism and the cliche of the overweight older league hacker.

What you and I remember as 'Country Clubs' are quickly dying.

People our age aren't joining. The weekend warrior types are making some public courses financial boom towns. Play and be done. No monthly dinner spending requirements, etc.

It will be interesting to see if many long-standing clubs can remain private much longer. I'm not talking Oakmont types but those on the level of Indiana Country Club.

The private country clubs should open up for public play only on the courses for certain days to raise revenue.

I live adjacent to a private country club. It's definitely third tier of private clubs around Pittsburgh, but they're doing alright. They're a full country club (the other relatively newer club a mile away is golf and dining only) and they do a ton of weddings and external outings. During covid they built a new clubhouse with a gym and golf stimulator. But the basic membership is a $10,000 up front payment then $750 a month between the minimum spend and assessment on the facilities upgrades.
