Social media just exploded with two-thirds of the Steelers fan base (who are either WVU or Penn State fans) treating Bishop as a hero. It's insane that people feel the need to constantly take shots at the flagship university of the city they live in. People don't need to be fans of Pitt. That's fine. But the manner in which they are treated locally is nauseating. And the overall rooting-interest and unprofessionalism that exists from a large chunk of the local media towards the university and their athletic programs, because they are supporters of Penn State or West Virginia, is absurd.
The conversation shouldn't have been about stoking the fire of a rivalry. Bishop isn't from this region, played at 3 schools, and was at WVU for 6 months. I'm sure his hatred runs deep. This is a professionalism conversation. If a Pitt player from Maryland walked into the Steelers locker room and wiped his feet on their logo because he was a Ravens fan, how would that be perceived? I am certain everyone knows the answer to that question.
