Stonehill looked liked they could battle for a playoff spot. They seem to have a veteran group, and a running game that Bloom could not stop. I expected more from the DL and was more worried about the DBs. Bloom has 15 DBs on the roster and only 2 have college experience. 2021 recruiting class had 7 DBs. DB Pollard switched to WR because a previous shoulder injury apparently made tackling difficult.

The new offense didn't look good, and I miss the running game of old. The OL was weak opening holes, and 3 freshman rbs are just getting their feet wet. They are reportedly deep at rb, but the best back Gooden is coming off knee surgery and missed the spring and most of preseason. He had a few carries, but time will tell if he can come back during his 6th season. I wondered why veteran rb West wasn't in the mix, guess HC is going with his own recruits.

The passing game wasn't the answer. QB short armed a few receivers, 6 of whom never caught a pass in college. Where was Arrington, the leading receiver from 2019? I hate the short passing game; throw the ball down the field. The offense runs without a TE or FB, and didn't use their new HB position very well.

Bloom failed in all 3 phases of the game. Coaching was the 4th failure, starting with going for it on 4th down at their own 44 yard line to open the game. Play calling on offense was questionable.

This will be a year to see if they do get better as the season goes on. They only had 4 senior starters, and are working with 3 untouched recruiting classes and a new system and staff. I am willing to give them some time.

SHU next Saturday. Better hope the Huskies can work out some of these kinks.

Coach Mac at Ship said 80 percent of the guys playing Sunday had never been in a game at our field. The roster is very heavy with freshmen and sophomores. I think most teams will be in the same boat this year and will be feeling their way.

Bart, You are looking at the beginning of the end. You miss the old offense already. Certainly the Danny Hale version of it. But, this is what people wanted. A Change. Almost reminds me of Hope and Change. People complained that they weren't doing what everybody else was. Well, that was the point of it all. They were good because they were unique with the Sprint Draw. Things began to change in the last couple of years. They went to Socialism. Now, they are full blown communism with the offense. It looks like a long-term building job with impatient Alumni Champions. So, I see Bloom battling it out with LHU and Ville for the champion of the bottom 3. I believe ESU is going to pull ahead because they have long-term PSAC people. We will see. Just my thoughts Bart, hoping I am wrong.

Cavalier, I was never on the band wagon to change the offense. Always liked the run first offense, and the sprint draw action. There are a lot of changes, not the least of which are players learning new positions. FB Malezzi is now a LB, any FB or TE is learning a new position, DB now a WR, TEs learning to be HBs,and so on. There are some kids I expected to see that played or started in 2019 and are on the roster. Where are DL Wilson and LB Trumino?

I will agree with you that I hope you are wrong about the future?

Glad you wanted to keep the old offense. You're a smart man Bart, and always enjoy your Bloom info. Much appreciated.

I honestly think Lock Haven and Millersville can give Bloom a run for their money this season. I have seen little positives in the Stone Hill game. On Offense Leiby has a solid arm and is a smart QB, but he really has no weapons on the outside. At running back he has a few decent backs like Gooden who is in his 10th year it seems lol But really I think 6th. . Offensive Line is average has a few returners, but looked a little rusty for sure. On Defense, Linebackers who started were very inexperienced and returners Robinson and Trumino didn't play so hard to tell how they will do in the middle. The DLine has a few nice tackles returning who can be solid like Heath and Pellegrino. The Secondary who started a freshman or two will get challenged in the next two weeks by Seton Hill who has a good QB in Chris Jones and QB Kory Curtis for Gannon who played for Ohio State, Both had big first games. It could be a tough year for BU. It seems like some solid players with experience dropped off the roster that had eligibility remaining, But it seems like teams like Shippensburg did too.

Wow, didn't know it was that bad. But, Seton Hill could be a benchmark game. I don't think LHU can beat bloom, not sure, but Ville should be closer to doing it given the coach has been there 2 prior years. I think for Bloom, this season is a state of the program season to determine where it really is, and how much it has fallen.

I wouldn't panic just yet. As stated, you had some guys out.

I'm 100% not a believer in that coach speak b.s. about next man up. The next man up is a backup for a reason.

Now, if you go in to Greensburg this week in front of all 48 roaring fans and either lose or win tight ... yeah, it's panic time.

That said, the fact people are actually picking Seton Hill to win this game ...

I'm not writing off the possibility that this season might be another abomination. Only 3 of the 16 teams played last year. A lot of our perceived better players haven't played full-contact competitive college football in almost two years. IIRC, only Mercyhurst and Seton Hill require its students to be vaccinated. Games are going to be canceled. Good players are going to test positive and miss games. I think after last year we've gotta take what we can get, even if that means our team looks like crap, and hope for a more normal 2022.

Seton Hill, Yes they don't have a huge following it seems, but it also seems they have has more seasoned players really than Bloom on this year's Roster, just not tons of depth. There's no way I could be confident Bloom could with this game.

Tough to win with 46 rushing yards against SH, and total offense of 165. Sure SH has some good LBs, and Bloom's starting QB was out from an injury in the Stonehill game, but that offense line is weak. Bloom got 5 turnovers and had the ball inside the redzone a couple of times, but no points.

Blooms' secondary played well, but the line gives up too many running yards. Two games, and the opponents both had nearly double rushing yards than passing.

Positives: Special teams held their own. K Hartman has a strong leg, and I can't remember if Bloom ever had somebody who could put the ball in the endzone on kickoffs before.

This is what happens when you let Carter Van Scyoc get away. Chuckle.

Transferred home to Ship, saw the other transfer QBs coming in, and called it a career.
