Wonder if the scoreboard operator had a good weekend?

And what do I end up with as a novice clock operator but an overtime game that Ship tied on a full-court deflection play with two seconds remaining in regulation time. The West Chester coach assigned his student manager to watch me like a hawk as Ship inbounded on the play. Of course being the Ship of the '60s we went on to lose the game in OT.
Are you making the trip this Saturday?
IUP is coming off two tough, extremely emotional games. This could be a hangover showing. Or, Ship may wish it didn't come.
I see two possible outcomes:
IUP looks like it has no interest (Edinboro 2021) and slips by something like 24-10
Or
IUP completely clobbers them
I really wish this game was on the road. I think it would do them good to get out of Indiana. I don't think three in a row at home does most teams too well to start the season. IUP, in particular, plays much better away from home. No idea why, but it does. Drastically, in fact, most years. Last three home games IUP has been blown out, somehow won and somehow lost.
Side note, I think Tort will see some real funny signs on the road this year (especially on Sept. 30).

I have been a scoreboard operator, and I can absolutely sympathize with the person running it. Often, you have so many distractions and interruptions in there that it is easy to forget something. Also, I remember once when the scoreboard simply did not respond to a command, and it was in the 4th quarter. However, the clock and scores worked. The down and distance decided that it wasn't needed though. But that is why you need to keep up with your own stuff. Because both human and mechanical malfunctions are possible.

Not going to be a great football season for me as the local high school team is down, Ship is stumbling again, my grad school was Northwestern, and after watching the Bears-Packers game yesterday I can confidently say the Bears will suck — again. The ground around George Halas's coffin is probably shaking from the Bears' founder rolling over in his grave. As a Pa. resident I jump on the Penn State bandwagon a little bit, but we'll see if they can get by Ohio State or Michigan this year. They look a little undersized at DT again.
Speaking of Northwestern, the Tort miscue brings to find the time Brian Kelly handed a win to Northwestern in a Northwestern-Notre Dame game I witnessed in South Bend in 2014. As was the case at Indiana Saturday, a missed extra point reared its ugly head. Notre Dame had been ranked most of the year, but had some injuries on defense and a mediocre Northwestern team was unexpectedly trading touchdowns with them. Finally, about midway through the fourth quarter, ND scored a touchdown to go 11 points ahead with a good chance to clinch the game. If they kick the point, they're up 12 and Northwestern needs two touchdowns to beat them. But Kelly, apparently disgusted with his kicker for missing a FG attempt and extra point earlier, decided to go for the two-point conversion. It failed. Northwestern marched down the field for a TD and converted a two-pointer to pull within three. Then, with time down to about two minutes, Notre Dame fumbled away the ball. NU was able to move close enough for a 47-yard field goal attempt, which they hit with time expiring to force the game into OT. The Irish missed another kick in OT, Northwestern kicked a field goal and the Cats stole a 44-41 win. Not as egregious as Tort's goof Saturday, but not a good look. As I was traveling home from South Bend to Pa., I ran into quite a few disgruntled Irish fans at turnpike rest stops and made sure to thank them for their coach's largesse.
I'd like to think differently, but if IUP doesn't easily cover your 13.5-point spread this week I'll be very pleasantly surprised.

It's unfortunate and very well could cost them a playoff spot. I doubt they sweep Cal/SRU (likely split). That leaves no room for another slip (or a fourth timeout).

Eagles Coach Sirianni put it perfectly after the Eagles game. "We faced adversity and came out with a win."

Not sure the ESU win was luck. Don't recall them butchering a simple play. Sometimes you can win by not making idiotic mistakes. And congrats to the Warriors for claiming the prestigious Nyahh Trophy. This handsome award features a clenched fist, symbolic of the holding of grudges. On either side are football players. One is rubber and the other is glue. There is space for the losing team to place a photo of their mother to signify she is prettier than the winner's mother.

They were going to lose. You were dreading another walk off field goal like the year before.
Your band of boy scouts didn't stop IUP last year and they technically didn't stop them this year.
The best player for East Dennyburg on Saturday was the IUP Score Board Operator.
That is he person who stopped the drive. Not your defense. That person faked out the whole coaching staff....
