Way to go Bloom! What a way to start the season for them. Week 1 is tough to get a read on everyone, but the East has certainly come out the gate pretty hot (minus Millersville).

What little bit I saw of the IUP @ Ashland game, IUP was struggling early to connect on the easy stuff. I felt as though an early score or two by Ashland would really up the doubt and self-induced pressure for IUP. But once Ashland botched the snap on the early 4th down punt attempt, and IUP capitalized with the TD, it seemed while Ashland may have kept things close, they didn’t t feel like a threat to actually win the game.
Interestingly enough, Shepherd’s first points of the night (2) came from a bad snap/botched punt attempt by SCSU shortly before Ashland’s debacle.
Kudos to Bloomsburg on their big start to the season.
I’m interested to see how Lock Haven gets going against a middle-tier Glenville State, after last year’s successful season.

IUP over Ashland, Kutztown over Assumption, Bloom over Fairmont... those 3 will be big come playoff time. Those 3 are contenders in their respective conferences. The Rock/New Haven will be a big impact one for regional rankings as well.

If Cal can get the job done that would give 2/3 of the MEC’s playoff hopefuls (counting Charleston and the two FSUs here) a loss against PSAC opponents. Not a knockout this early in the season but could definitely help our teams trying to snag lower seeds. WCU against Bentley could play a role too. About the only conference that we can’t get a leg up on is the CIAA given there’s only been one non-conference game against them.
