  • Absolutely unbelievable Edinboro punt and coverage goes for 74 yards to the RMU 1.

Edinboro safety on the next play for a 23-21 lead,

    • I think the 'Boro is going to pull this one out. Huge fourth-and-1 stop, and they have a 23-21 lead and a first down with 2:00 left.

Is that 74-yard punt going to be one of the big plays in Fighing Scots history? Could be ...

      • Great game by Boro. They controlled the game and RMU only had a few big plays that kept them in it.

        • YESSSSSS!!!!!!!!! BORO WINS AGAINST DIV 1 ROBERT MORRIS! my son Malpica #8 has 3 TFL including the 4th and 1 stop on last drive. Including QB HIT that caused INT in redzone
Edinboro actually controlled the clock and showed the how strong the PSAC is wohoo!

Never thought we'd see that happen.

They were due... almost every program in college football seems to hit a rough patch after an extended run at the top.

For whatever reasons, and I claim no insider knowledge or understanding here, Ship has reached something of a crossroads in its program. We've gone in a few years from a program with an exciting offense that consistently was one of the better teams in the PSAC East to a program that is coming off huge graduation and portal losses last season and includes only 38 players who were on the fall 2023 roster. The coaches went out over the winter and spring, recruited mightily and brought in a class of 48 players for this season along with 7 transfers. The result, as I pointed out in an earlier post, is a roster which has 32 players with sophomore or higher eligibility, including only four seniors, and 63 players with freshmen eligibility — 43 of them true freshmen.

Ten of the 14 offensive linemen I count on the roster seem on paper to be true freshmen. Only two o-linemen played extensively prior to this season. You are not going to come out of the box with a good offense with that type of inexperience.

Looking at the roster it doesn't take a genius to realize that even if some of the newcomers have a good measure of talent it's not going to be a good year for Shippensburg. Even at the D2 level, the best thing about most freshmen is that they eventually become sophomores.

I sincerely hope I'm wrong, but realistically this could be the worst seasonr Ship has had in many years. And last year was not good. I see no sure wins for us in the PSAC East this year, and it will not shock me if Ship finishes last in the division.

All this is a long way of saying that likening Ship to the D2 equivalent of a good Michigan team this season would be a serious mistake. I'd advise those AIC fans to control their enthusiasm. Fifteen of the players who appeared Saturday against AIC had never played college football at Shippensburg — or anywhere else. That's right, it was their first-ever college game.

                    • Who literally picked Edinboro as the upset dpecisl
                      of the week?

                      That would be me.

Who in AIC (fan or player) acting like this win is like App St. vs. Mich!? It’s a nice win to start the season but by no means we are acting like we took down a giant. Don’t come here and spread rumors!

On paper - right now - I'm not sure there's a win sitting on Ship's schedule this year. At the very least, I suspect they are a dog in each remaining game.

That's a serious rebuild taking place.

                          • Boro win was great. After the quick strike, the offense sputtered a bit but got back on track. Defense was great. Special teams even better.

Probably the biggest win since upsetting SRU's homecoming in 2016.

                            • With Cal and West Chester both coughing up games yesterday, I'd say it's now safe to call their Week 2 matchup dang near a playoff game.

The loser next Saturday (probably safe to assume) will be forced to win out (not easy given their schedules).

Cal won't sweep IUP/SRU and the Rams sure aren't running the East gauntlet.

Congrats. Another of our low-level Pa. FCS Titans, St. Francis, did the opposite of Bobby Mo and actually picked off Kent State over the weekend. The Golden Flashes will have big problems in the MAC.
