Meatchicken has always been an area with wild changes in pricing. I scheduled Mobil station deliveries for the Detroit area 20-22 years ago and Speedway (Marathon) would raise price by .30 a gallon with no warning and my stations would spike in sales. Prices tend to change slower here. I went to work yesterday at 5am and most everyone was at $3.29 (which was an increase after Bibi started it) and on my way home at 4 they were all $3.39.

And yes the Northeast does subsidize the rest of the country…😉

Former ball coach Curt Cignetti was in town over the weekend. He was chillin at one of the hottest spots in town these days, Fresh Blendz Cafe. The guy is 64 years old but if someone said he was 50 you’d believe them. Good for him!

I wonder what brought him to town. Is his mom still living and if so in Indiana? I can't imagine he would make that trip just to visit his brother.

What is so outlandish about making a trip to visit one's brother?

Both are older men of means and you'd think they'd meet up in a locale other than Indiana, PA.

It was a family gathering of some sort with several there. I’m not sure how much of the family is still around.

That's what I was getting at in a rather unclear way. I wonder if Frank Sr's compound is still in the family and whoever else is still around Indiana. I wouldn't be surprised if Frank, Jr. is only a "seasonal" resident.

I read an article online in the IG about the upcoming PSAC West football season. Opened it up thinking it was one of Matt's articles and might have some insights, transfer news, etc. It was NOT Matt's article. Almost seems like it was AI-generated with all the mistakes in it. Although it only mentioned a couple IUP players, it called Maurice Feazell, Feazell Maurice. It described Cal defeating Slippery Rock in the Coal Bowl. Also had Brayden Long coming back for another year for SRU. Hey, IG, you've got to do better than that.

That shouldn't have even been published in an elementary school newspaper.

It was nice of him to remember QB Hunter Karst.

When he got to Edinboro, he neglected to learn that LB Wilfredo Diaz transferred.

The Indiana Gazette sports coverage is pitiful. For the last few weeks there has been almost no local sports reporting. It’s all syndicated crap. The girls 14U Junior League softball team that made it to the World Series last year is once again on a run and playing for the state championship again and it hasn’t even been mentioned. The coverage of Indiana High School’s run to a state baseball championship was way below standard for such an accomplishment. High school coaches now have to call in reports from their games afterward including stats if they want reports from the games to be published. Matt’s IUP coverage is the only legit material left. When Tony retired, quality reporting on IUP basketball went with him (to Substack though so still available). The best local sports coverage around here is a retired guy running around to games all over the county with a camera out of personal interest. I give him credit for putting the time in.

If it weren’t for the local news coverage, I’d end my subscription. I think I’m going to anyway when it expires.

Hopefully he cut a check to help his brother’s offense. After all he does make 8 mill a year…just sayin.

I expect much improved QB play this year, but that’s assuming the O-line holds up and they can run the ball a little bit. They’re loaded at WR and TE.

Haven't seen any news about additions to the OL.

Most of the outfits that own newspapers now are just stripping them for their assets. I used to work for three newspapers in my area. Gannett controls all three, has cut the staffs to a skeletal level, and the headquarters buildings of all three have either been sold or are for lease. The last paper I worked for which probably had at least 15 combined news, lifestyle, and sports reporters at one time, is now down to one beat reporter and two sports guys. If you're looking for good local newspaper coverage these days, you probably ain't gonna find it. The funny thing is the number of people that used to hate on the local papers when I worked now tell me they miss them. As Joni Mitchell said, "Don't it always seem as though, that you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone."
