You punt and try to pin them down, if it goes in the end zone , they get at the 20 and have to score twice.

I watched the entire game and even today I'm still finding it hard to believe the ROCK won. 0 for 10 on third downs. Less.than hundred yards rushing, yes they got 3 turnovers, but only scored points off of last one.
One stat counts. Style points are meaningless.

Neither team could tackle but that's largely due to not hitting in practice.

I would surely think DaOne is The QB1 (without question) moving forward.

If Lutz ran his Two Minute Drill for 60 minutes they'd probably score 70 a game.

D2 won 3 out of 6 games against FCS opponents last night. NAIA went 1-1 against FCS last night.

a couple take aways for me from the Rock game:

          1. Rock D line is the strength of that team - they are stout up front...and deep. they are going to cause everyone in the PSAC some problems up front
          2. If you want the blue print for how to slow down JJ Jordan, watch the backside gap control discipline that UMD displayed - he's a cut back guy, always looking for the home run. UMD was sound all night and i think held him to like 20yds on the ground
          3. 2nd year in a row that Rock started a QB in the opener that was completely inept for a half + of football before Owens came in and saved the day....cannot wrap my head around this...also note worthy that Pfeuffer doesn't seem to be in the mix at all for snaps. maybe that changes as the year goes along
          4. a lot of new pieces on the Rock O line, overall they looked pretty good. If they stay healthy I'd expect them to get better as the year goes along
          5. Rock ran QB power like 20 times in this one....not sure i've seen anything like that from them in the past
6.. Hard to get a gauge on the Rock WR room as i think UMD was really good in the backend of that D but i wasn't overly impressed...something to watch going forward

I think we'll learn a little more about the Rock in two weeks when they go to ESU which is going to be a favorable matchup. after watching a bit of the ESU/SHU game the warriors don't seem to be much of a passing threat. They are going to find it difficult to run into the teeth of SRU defense for 4 qtrs but i will be more interested to see how the Rock O line fairs in week 2 against a big physical D line for ESU and a more known commodity in the conference.

The D-line is the strength of the team? The statistics certainly don't indicate that. Did UMD run around them all game? I don't know how you give up 370 yards rushing with a strong d-line unless the linebacking and secondary is really atrocious.

a couple big plays and just poor tackling....the D line controlled the line of scrimmage all game and put a ton of pressure on the QB especially as the game went on. don't know how many times they missed a TFL in the backfield that turned into a massive play. Also keep in mind they weren't playing ESU or Millersville...we'll see what happens the next two weeks.

Since I didn't have a chance to see the game, I'll take your word for it, but that's a helluva lot of rushing yardage to give up. Line play is one of the chief regions PSAC teams seem to come to grief when they get outside our region in the playoffs. Yeah, we'll see how they do with IUP, Cal, etc.

A couple days later...ESU's running dominated Seton Hill, especially on their master class level 17 play, 97 yard scoring drive. All rushing plays, and the Griffins couldn't stop it. Yes ESU looks very one dimensional right now, but it's just one game against a team that might have the best defensive secondary in the PSAC.

ESU is at Pace Friday night. The Setters have a new HC, so we'll see what challenges they present. ESU is very deep at RB, so it's not really a surprise that they leaned into it. Plus QB Harrison Susi is a lock to set the career rushing record. Looking forward to a fun season!!

Ship 9 LH 7 at the half. LHU had some miscues in the 1st quarter which hurt them. But since that they have had the ball and moved the ball. Ship's been backed up deep in their own territory for the whole 2nd quarter.

I was surprised LHU passed so much with Portman as QB. I figured they would be a run first offense. I think if LH takes the lead they will go to their running game and grind it out. I still feel comfortable with my pick'ems pick for LH. LHU's TD was thrown by QB Nagle. They have also gone to Johnson at RB late in the 2nd quarter. Their offense is a lot more diversified than Ship.

Huge news in the MEC....the streak is about to end. WVWC is dominating Post 31-13 in the 4th qtr. the 35 game losing streak will be broken in Mike Kellar's first opportunity. Over 400yds off offense and 4 passing TD's...what a turnaround.
