How many times you going to use the time out issue as a comeback? You act like it hurts me. It doesn't! That's just one of many reasons why I think Tort should've got the boot two years ago. I won't say to much because I don't want to hurt the Tort lovers feelings like I have the past couple days.

It's never too early to talk playoffs (even on Sept. 9).

There's only so many games, and, in general, so many losses a team can take.

That said, there's a surprisingly very big game this weekend. Assumption plays Frostburg State. One of them will 0-2 by Saturday night -- and in a pretty big hole.

MEC had a tough opening couple weeks for their contending teams. Will likely be a 1 bid league because of it.

Suspect play-calling toward the end keeping time on the clock and allowing Frostburg to save two of their timeouts when the clock was one of their biggest hurdles late in the 4th.

It appeared we forgot the run game and tried to hit the long ball. In two series we took about 25 seconds off the the clock. Not sure why. Our run game was solid and on a hot/humid day you want to keep there defence on the field. Plus, our top two receivers were not in the game.

The last 18 minutes of that game could have been WAY less dramatic if Shepherd had simply ran the ball. With 3/4 mins left in the 3rd qtr Rams led 28-10. Frostburg had just had a great time consuming drive that lasted nearly 9 minutes of the 3rd qtr. Defense could use a breather, and the offense to stay on the field. Instead, we dropped back on 5 consecutive plays and had to punt and didn't burn more than 2 mins off the clock. Bad snap on the punt and a bad decision by the punter to kick it 30 yds through the end zone for a safety ensued and it's 28-12.

Frostburg takes the ball after the safety and has a quick drive on a tired defense and scores again to make it 28-18. Personally, I think the FSU coaches made the wrong call and just kicked the XP instead of making it a 1 score game by going for 2. That let the Rams off the hook for the safety and gave them a mulligan on those points keeping it a 2 score game.

With 3:30 left in the game, Shepherd up 34-19. 1st down nets 6 yds. 2nd and 4 incomplete pass. 3rd and 4 incomplete pass. Punt. WTF?!?!

It didn't have to be that dramatic at the end. Just kill clock.

As one who actually plays and watches chess, I find it much more entertaining than watching two guys bicker about the same tired thing on a website for multiple years in a row. If you actually think it's good-natured smack talk, try some new material.
