Hey, only UW LaCrosse is on the schedule so far for GLIAC schools. I'm sure we can all find games against UW Oshkosh or UW River Falls still.

Might as well invite them the GLIAC. Seems those are our only guaranteed OOC games year in and year out.

I believe that Oshkosh is playing at Tech but have not gotten a for sure confirmation on that. I know a few other GLIAC and WIAC teams have had discussions, not sure if anything has come from those discussions.

Oof. That's gonna be a divot in the SOS for the entire GLIAC.

Maybe. But they still scheduled UCO, West Alabama, and West Florida.

Dang. I guess they see DU as a better opponent than Ferris or GV and maybe even SV. That's a nice set of OOC games.

LSC is looking for 7 games that we know of. That would also be a bit of an SOS hit but it is a D2 game.

Would love to see it but I know a few of them told both GV and Ferris no. Wayne is full, and from the sounds of it so is Tech (but unconfirmed at this point). I don't think Roosevelt or NMU would spend the time/money to travel any significant distance, they have showed in the past that they would rather pick up a D3 or NAIA opponent. DU or SVSU would be the two most likely possibilities to keep an eye out for, and more SVSU as DU would probably only schedule one of them if they are desperate for a game.

I'm fairly certain that Tiffin is going to be playing Ferris State too.

I would love to see some sort of mini/quasi-alliance with the LSC as well. Have also heard that GV and Ferris haven't had much luck despite trying.

Not sure why the thoughts on a few of these folks, though. DU will play anyone and are willing to travel...went to SD for a game just two seasons ago. Roosevelt we don't really have a track record on...to say that they only "pick up D3 or NAIA games" may not be entirely fair, as they actually were NAIA just last year. Their 2024 schedule was as you note, but let's see how that shakes out in coming seasons. As for Northern, they played at Angelo in '17 and at Permian Basin in '19, so they have actually scheduled the very teams we're talking about. They have still been traveling to Kentucky and Southern Illinois the last couple of years, so while they did have some DIII's in there (more than I'd like, to be sure) it hasn't been their only path to a schedule.

Either way, both leagues would definitely benefit...just have to handle a bit of costs and possibly playing a tough opponent. But not easy but would be awesome if it came together.

I did a count of open LSC games earlier this week. The LSC is looking for 7 non conference games. There are only 5 openings left in region 4 (3 RMAC, 2 MIAA). Someone is going to have to schedule outside the region (likely GSC?) or take on a FCS game. So far the LSC has 3 FCS games scheduled and thats likely to rise with Western Oregon. Hopefully GV and Ferris can still score a game even though its a likely butt kicking for the LSC but beats the alternative of a game not counting towards SOS.

On the DU front, yes they are absolutely willing to travel and have showed that but not outside of what could be done by bus. They bussed to every away game in their program history, even SD. That’s why I doubt they would either bus the 20+ hours or pay for a flight. Your correct in Roosevelt, we will see on them. As for NMU you are right that in the past NMU has traveled but recent history (under current AD/post budget cuts) has shown quite a downward shift in football spending. I’d love to be wrong to be honest, I wish every GLIAC team played 11 D2 games every year. Here’s to hoping for some quality games!
