Re: Southwest Baptist leaving MIAA
This is why you never say never. At one time, GLVC members scoffed at the thought of allowing SBU to join because of perceived poor academics. But when you need members you need members and the things that seemed so important a few years ago don't mean so much today.

Re: Southwest Baptist leaving MIAA
Uggghhh... hate to see the hate on Lindenwood. I know football hasn't held up it's end of the bargain, but everywhere else, Lindenwood is competing just fine in the MIAA. Last year they had the highest point total of any MIAA team in the Director's cup standing, and this year they're second only to UCM.
Give football some time. They've got a proven head coach that is doing some great things around the program right now.
I know the GLVC makes more geographic sense, but the MIAA is where it's at in terms of nationally recognized programs. I don't want them to go anywhere.Cool Story Bro

Re: Southwest Baptist leaving MIAA
Even though Lincoln plays football in the GLVC, would Lincoln want to make the total jump from the MIAA to the GLVC? I don't know...just asking. I don't want anybody in the MIAA that doesn't play football in the MIAA.....so that includes SBU, Lincoln, and Newman. Still don't understand the Newman thing.
I don't see the Lindenwood (St.Louis) location as that much of a big deal for the other MIAA schools. Lindenwood themselves suffer the most from the extra driving distance. I think Lindenwood is a good fit and a real asset for the MIAA. Our little party group likes football road games to Lindenwood. We make a weekend out of it and St. Charles is a great place to stay and party. Last year Sig recommended several great restaurants, bars, and clubs. We had a great experience, but next time we need to keep our women away from the casinos while the guys attend the game.

Re: Southwest Baptist leaving MIAA
For what it's worth, I believe that Lindenwood is a good fit for and belongs in the MIAA. Their resources, facilities, pedigree, and enrollment all fit the profile with the exception of their status as a private institution. However, Lindenwood being a private institution doesn't bother me at all. All the other aspects of their university and athletics programs look like a strong MIAA institution to me, with a lot of potential to improve their competitiveness in football and other sports that might not be contending yet. If UCM, Pitt, NW, or UCO were ever to move up, I feel that keeping LU in the conference makes even more sense in the long term. The 'Wood is Good.

not winning or not having won isn't necessarily the same thing as not being committed although b/c the 2 go hand in hand quite often some marry them unnecessarily instead of looking at each situation on it's own merit.
sbu left when they ditched in terms of fball. this day was always going to happen. they haven't been missed for the same reason rolla & truman haven't, the latter being a shame for us specifically b/c of what was once upon a time our chief rival. losers choosing to be losers.Go Bearcats!
