I think Pitt's physicality matches up well against NW. The NW secondary worries me more than anything. The Pitt O just plays keep away and holds out for a couple of explosives to turn the game. If NW kills those, it's gonna be tough.

D2.com guys made it sound like it’s NWMSU passing vs Pitt secondary (advantage Pitt), Pitt running game vs NW defensive front (advantage NW) and NW offense vs Pitt offense (advantage NW). I think that’s why they all, except one, picked NW to win.Originally posted by tch4psu View PostWonder if it will be a good game or a blow out by one team?

I think Witt and Po picked Pitt. The other 3 picked the evil empire.Originally posted by OldBison View Post

Our rush defense is suspiciously good. As long as we aren’t playing an up tempo passing offense, where we will let the qb run for a Benjamin+. We are so terrified of those offenses and the big play, we just let anything happen underneath. To be fair, over the last 4 years, we have only lost 2 games to UCM and ESU. They just happen to be the same year.

NW and Pitt both started slowly and improved week by week. Both teams want to run the ball and stop the run. Both have really good secondaries and DL. Both spread the ball around in the passing game instead of favoring 1 or 2 guys. Both have overcome slow starts and sloppy games.
I give Pitt the edge in physicality. NW the edge in coaching.
Should be a really good game.

Seconded on coaching. Take a program that has been in the dumps the last couple years and turns them into conference champs and playoffs bound in 1 offseason. I hope this game doesn’t come down to in game coaching. I usually like what TA does with being aggressive and keeping discipline, but the offensive inconsistencies are head scratchers.Originally posted by Predatory Primates View PostNW and Pitt both started slowly and improved week by week. That and the tendency to get super conservative with a lead.Originally posted by GorillaTeacher View Post
