Accurate. We had 9,414 at the recent homecoming. We could have easily accommodated another 3,000 not counting the empty seats of the season ticket holders. The current shop will easily handle routine crowds of 12,000 IMO regardless of what the "official" numbers say.

So the stadium is growing without adding seats? That sounds fabulous. Those grassy knolls can be pretty tricky.

The stands on the east side look to me are able to hold quite a few more butts than are stated. That or the count for homecoming was vastly wrong. Seriously, there was lot's of room left. Anyone who was there or watched the stream would say the same.

        • Man this thread brings back memories. Like walking through a ghost town of former D2 teams and posters.

I am always reminded that McBroom passed up Tremaine Jackson to Hire Hunter Hughes.

Jackson is currently the head coach at Valdosta State.

During the past 24 days McBroom spent searching for a new coach to replace Mike Nesbitt -who was fired on Nov. 18, after his third straight season of only six wins each - McBroom emphasized defense, bringing to campus Texas A&m-Kingsville defensive coordinator David Brown, former Missouri Western head coach Jerry Partridge and Sioux Falls defensive coordinator Tremaine Jackson as finalists.

"I've known Hunter and watched his work for many years," McBroom said. "I'm good friends with CSUP coach John Wristen. The thing that has always impressed me about them is their defense. How that whole group plays as a team. The year Pueblo won the title, their defense rose to the occasion every single time."

Jackson wanted a 5-year contract. Wt does not give multi-year contracts. There have been several long-term coaches that just had one-year contracts.

Isn't it normal for schools, even D2 schools, to offer multiyear contracts? Why don't we? Is McBroom on one-year contracts?

              More on Jackson:

I have no clue why Wt only has one-year contracts. If a coach has a multi-year contract and wants to move I have never heard of a coach turning down a job
because he was under contract. I also do not know what McBroom's contract status is.

                • I think our AD's believes in two things: Just win and do it the right way. If you do those two things you will be able to coach at WT for as long as you like.

WT, as well as many others, notoriously "over counts" their attendance. Be that way for years.

The flip side, I am a TOP DII coach....I am offered a 1 year deal in CANYON. Have to uproot and move wife, kids, and dog(s) to CANYON on a 1 year deal?! HAHAHA

                        Yeah, um, NO.

Yep. Our AD has to sell someone one that deal.

Personally, a 3 year deal sounds about right. Some rollover options, etc.

I think AD's afraid to set a precedent with FB.

                            Let's get a new AD!

Jackson is only 3-3 at Valdosta with an arguably far more talented roster. They just gave up 70 points, a program record, to Delta State. He was supposed to be a defensive specialist but they also gave up 45 to Virginia Union and 34 against West Alabama. WT fans would be trying to run Jackson out of town just the same as they are Hughes.

Not the first year. He took over Mesa from Sioux Falls and did really well there. If that is still going on after the first year then totally get it. WT has now gone through several years of mediocrity.
