Since I couldn't watch or listen, all I have is stats.

Observations from the stats:
1) 18 turnovers (Foster/Demo 11 combined) not good.
2) Demo posted a large double double 16-15
3) Radford perfect from the floor but I'm sure his D sucked still.
4) 10 total fouls which is very low.
5) 11-17 from the line... not spectacular
6) Joe went a legit 9 deep...
7) Polce first off the bench... unexpected

Polce played a lot. He's a good defender. Big kid. Strong.

Radford is better live than on the screen. He's a nice player.

Joe got that early lead then emptied the bench. Odd. But, it kept WVW in game.

As far as opening nights go ... about what you'd expect. Not great. Not awful.

WVW came with a with a lot of fight.

First game was an OT thriller.

Crowd sucked. Very small. Spirited, but small.

Demo was a stat machine. Souliman (sp) is a beast.

Better be a lot cleaner tomorrow.

How the F is there media time outs with no tv or radio broadcast? IUP ought to be ashamed that there is no way of viewing this game!

Quick look at tonight's opponent (West Virginia Wesleyan):

* Went 0-14 last year -- lost a ton of close, single-digit games.
* Top 5 scorers from that team are all gone
* Picked last in the MEC preseason poll
* Not much size on the roster
* New coach is Derek Sloan. He was on staff the previous two years after wrapping up his playing career at Cleveland State
* Sloan said in a preseason interview that the focus has been largely on defense
* IUP has won the past two in the series (2014 & 2019)

And, of course, this is the prototype team that comes in here and plays well. LOL. Seen it happen so many times.

On the IUP front, it seems they are in good health with the exception of Tommy Demogerontas. He's said to be questionable (shoulder) for the weekend. They will need him more tomorrow as Concord has some nice size under the basket.

Not on there yet... IUP pulled this two years ago and had no broadcasts before Thanksgiving. UGH!!!

The 'live stats' link is up now.

[IUPbigINDIANS]

From today's Gazette article:

* Demo is questionable for tomorrow with a shoulder injury

* Diop was not mentioned in the 8-man rotation plans. Rather, Polce was. It will still be a nice luxury to have the 6'10" Diop in spurts when needed.

Maybe they can SnapChat it from the score table. It would be about the same quality as the Gannon broadcasts.

Maybe you can video it for me via facetime!!! hahaha

Is there going to be a TV broadcast for the games this weekend??? I see no links and I don't even see links for a radio broadcast. Any insight???

Hard to say. I'd sure assume (it would be terrible not to have them). No home football game so no real excuse. Sometimes they don't post the links until the day of the game. I assume Jack will be going to West Chester so I'm not sure the local radio will cover it. I think in the past they did have a back-up crew do the game.

But, as I said, I can't recall a year with this little marketing. I think even the Gazette has run just one story to this point. They (IUP) are doing stuff on Twitter -- but, not everybody is in the Twitter world.

I ws there that weekend in 2019. It was actually pretty darn good competition. I got 4 games in that weekend. Steelers/Panthers Thursday, 2 IUP basketball and IUP football. Great stuff...

Yeah I remember that first half against WVW. They came out and dunked five on IUP in the first half and had the lead at intermission. I'd guess the big guy wasn't real happy. IUP ended up blowing them out.

Year before when Tommy Bolte was a senior at Concord that was a great game. IUP won late. May got T'd up at the end. Crowd rode him hard all night.

[IUPalum]

I'm interested to see what the attendance does. It was really rolling there in 2019. Joe had a streak of (6) straight games over 3,100+

The 2019 Opening Weekend (against these same two teams) had a bad gate. They got 2,123 Friday night for WVW but it dropped to just 675 for Concord. IUP did have a home football game that same day so it certainly played a part. That won't be an issue this year as they are away (and, far enough away that few will travel ... not to mention out of the playoff race).

If I had to guess, I'd say they get over 2,000 for both games -- but, barely. IUP has done next to no marketing for this season. It's been awful, actually.
