That may be, but I'll venture a guess that if you ask the players weather they want to play in an 80% empty arena or a full gym with loud fans...they will pick the latter 10 times out of 10.

But honestly, last year the British soccer player kid who ran color commentary for WV Wesleyan was absolutely worth the listen! Downright hilarious (in a laughing WITH you not AT you kind of way. Super entertaining kid).

But yes, most use local radio guys or experienced sports media guys in the MEC.

'Away' games against non-PSAC opponents will usually not be picked up on the PSAC Network. For instance, our teams playing in the MEC tonight ... you can download the Mountain East app. You'll quickly see their basketball broadcasts are far superior to ours. They don't use student announcers and their overall production is much, much better.

As SRU is home this weekend, its games should be available both on their network as well as the PSAC network.

The PSAC and MEC networks are free. When our teams play at CIAA schools, in the past you've had to pay to watch.

Yeah i have a bunch of the other apps.. was just wondering if I'd need the SRU app to watch their home games or if I can still watch on PSAC

So i see that rocks home games can be viewed on Rock Athletics Digital Network (which can be installed on smart tvs etc). Does anyone know.. Will their home games then not be on PSAC app at all?

None of that matters...I'd wager that less than 10% care about the audience watching them. They care about playing. Why else would students play for teams that generally aren't compettitve? I'll do this...I'll ask some ESU players, you ask some IUP players. We can complare notes...Deal??

It's a money thing to me. I fully realize most of our schools draw 65 people for a basketball game whether it's at 1 p.m. or 8 p.m.

But, there are exceptions.

The amount of lost revenue from having 2,500 in the building to 550 is huge. Again, I realize 80% of the league would love to draw even 550.

Tipping the women at 3 p.m. on a work day is just a throw away. Having the men start at 5 p.m. on a work day will just decimate the gate. I'm sure the players love playing in gyms that are 85% empty, too. The 80+ crowd really cranks up the atmosphere. Why do they all have to do the same thing?

But, the beauty of our league is it doesn't care about generating money. Obviously. Life goes on. At least all these college kids can be in bed by 11 p.m. now lol.

I get the target audience is 85 year olds. But, seriously, how freaking dumb can this league be?

Apparently playing in front of empty seats and generating no revenue is the goal.

Cal at Charleston has to be the game of the weekend. Both have some key guys back as well as many new faces. Both are picked very high. Charleston has a new coach.

I suspect both of these teams will be in the thick of things come late February.

These games routinely get chalked up to 'it's early and they don't matter'. For teams with legit aspirations of hosting the Regional, that obviously couldn't be further from the truth. This game will likely matter a whole lot come seeding time.

The games matter very much, especially if you have a young team or an uncertain roster. Ship's early games last season showed they had major defensive issues, which they were never able to get entirely under control.
