Very true. I personally question weather playing difficult teams in November translates into a deeper playoff run in March. We're talking about a couple of games played four months before the NCAA tourney!! Does it truly matter to a teams performance if those first few games are against teams that end up with 24 wins as opposed to 10 wins?

But rule #1 of any basketball schedule is to schedule teams you are likely to beat. Doesn't do anyone any good to be playing your best ball in February when you've already got 7 losses and have about zero chance of making the playoffs (absent a conf tourney championship).

You're right. It was Walsh that beat Oakland. I'd been checking out some schedules and got them mixed up.

Cal U. holds on for an 87-86 win over Lincoln. Had a seven-point lead late and looked to be in control, but nearly coughed it up at the end. Vulcans looked good on offense, but had some trouble with interior defense.

The usual balance in the West might be a little different this season. IUP posters have made their feelings known about this year's team and today another traditional Western Division power, Mercyhurst, fell to D'Youville, a team it had beaten by huge margins in five previous meetings. It was D'Youville's first win of the season. The Lakers are now 3-4 and although it's well known that they usually improve as the season goes on, it looks as if they have a way to go this year.

Meanwhile West Chester, picked to finish second in the East in the preseason poll is now 1-3 after losing for the second straight year to Wilmington, a team beaten by rebuilding Shippensburg earlier in the week.

I cannot remember any time that Gannon didn't play the late game in Day 1 of the classic. Until this year as they're playing at 530 and Lincoln/Davenport are 730. Wonder if one of the later teams needed it due to travel purposes?

There have been rumors surfacing that the KJ/GU Era may have officially ended. Allegedly, GU paid him for the "backpay" they hadn't paid him and paid him for the amount due to him through Jun 30, 2023. In turn, GU was not responsible for "breaching" the contract (that didn't exist) for his extension and did not have to pay for the remaining years indicated on the appointment letter.

Again, rumors, but 2 have been very good sources historically.

We've had a few area kids in various sports slip away from us at Ship. Don't want to see Coach Fite give up on good kids from anywhere as he's done great in western Pa., but I'm glad to see him pick up a few more District 3 kids lately. There usually are some pretty good players in the region year in an year out.

Joe needs to go four guards and dump the SF position.

If he's not going to play Brooks he's just playing 5 on 4

    Edit: wrong thread
