I'd guess what was left of the glory days crowd is probably long gone. Some probably remain although they really abandoned things the past 5-7 years. Even at the end of the JR run their crowds were decimated.

They'll need to mirror how IUP rebuilt the fan base with a younger audience (basketball).

The crowds from the 80’s and 90’s were wild. Even as recently as the last Elite Eight run (2009ish I believe) attendance still looked very strong. Is that permanently gone? Or if Gannon experienced the same success IUP or West Liberty has (or even Mercyhurst over the last 5 years, for an Erie comparison) would they still be drawing 1000+ a game?

Interesting note... all their home games in 2023 (including Gary Miller Classic) are listed as being at Highmarl Events Center.. all home games in 2024 just say Erie, PA..no venue listed.

I was under the impression they were starting renovations soon and the HMEC wouldn't be used at all in the 23-24 season.

Slippery Rock has signed Walsh transfer (PG) Luke Howes (6'1", 185 lbs).

He didn't play last year due to injury. It appears he will have two years' eligibility.

The men's basketball offices are in the basement. McComb does not have air conditioning. It gets so hot and humid they have to take garbage cans to prop open external doors and get air flowing through the halls.

Edinboro gave out 3.78 scholarships in 2021-22 for men's basketball. That's tied with Seton Hill for lowest in the PSAC West and tied for 4th-lowest in the PSAC. How the F*** do you expect a team to do better with that facility, that little money, and the cloud looming over the reputation of the school? Clarion and Gannon have twice the funding and finished below Cleary.

This is what happens when you hire a competitive water skier turned professor as your athletic director. No desire to win.
No, PennWest is starting the demise of men’s sports on that campus. They don’t want money invested in sports! It’s not incompetence, it’s THE PLAN!

Yeah, that was kind of a shocker the way Gannon had been playing. Ship had trouble with Gannon this year, but had routed Cal in a game earlier this season. Ariel Jones getting into quick foul trouble hurt the Raiders in the semis against Gannon. She only played 28 minutes. Ladies will now head for Glenville, W.Va.
