Still waiting for the new roster. I noticed that a meaningless '20-'21 roster was posted last year. It included 2-Sr, 6-Jr, 4-So and 3-Fr. Traditionally, JS doesn't lose many players in the off season and rarely anyone of significance. Photos of workouts on Twitter show some of the usual faces but one significant contributor isn't there and since she is an avid Tweeter I know she hasn't been talking a lot about getting back on the court. Expect the roster to drop in a day or so since game one usually arrives with November. Hope someone can step up as a #1 scorer since rabid defense will only get you so far.

Big gap on VULCANS WBB roster is Bianca Jasper. I follow her Twitter and suspected something was up but this pretty much confirms it. No indication she's intending to use her remaining year of eligibility elsewhere but we'll see.
Odd thing about the WBB roster is players are listed by academic year not athletic year. Sophs Lawrence and Burris haven't played a game but are separate from this year's freshman class. MBB seem to be listed by athletic year since I know Pegram has graduated but is listed as a senior.
Otherwise two transfers likely to be significant are Dejah Terrell 6'1" played at D3 Albright averaged 21.7ppg, 12.4rpg and 3.1 blocks. Hon.Ment AA.
Ciara Loyd 5'7" played at Lackawanna JC averaged 12.8ppg, 7.0 assists and 2.3 steals.
Going strictly by mpg from '19-'20 season the starting five would seem to be Harrison-29.4, Bennett-25.1, Hudson-19.3, Herrington-18.8 and Woodyard-9.0. That leaves about 100 mpg to be filled. My wild guess would be that Harrison +5 mpg, Bennett +5 mpg, Hudson +5-10 mpg Herrington +5 mpg and Terrell +20 mpg. will take about 35 of those minutes with the rest up for grabs. Time will tell.

@CALU_wbb is picked to finish 3rd in the PSAC West this year. Coach Jess is excited to get at it again with a nicely balanced veteran and newbie squad.

VULCANS WBB got off to a positive start at the MERCYHURST portion of the MEC/PSAC CHALLENGE with a 76-60 win over WLU. After a slow first half and trailing 27-28, CAL turned it around with 49 pts in the third/fourth qtrs. JC transfer CIAIRA LYOD led with 19, followed by OLIVIA HUDSON with 16 and BRIONNA ALLEN with 12. As usual D played a big part with the TOPPERS turning the ball over 28 times resulting in 21 pts. FT shooting was also important as the VULCANS sank 22-29 against 14-21 for WLU
Next up is CHARLESTON at 3:00 on Sunday.
After watching the replay, it would appear that the ballhandling combo of LOYD and FR JULIANA BURRIS may be the best since GLENN and FRATZ. Don't know if they have the scoring touch of that great duo, but the possibility of a well run offense looks pretty good.
Also congrats to JESS STROM who recorded her school record 213th victory passing Darcie Vincent. Her 213-61-.777 winning record places her third among current PSAC coaches as well as eighth among all time league coaches.Last edited by CALUPA69; 11-14-2021, 07:00 AM.

The defense from the Cal women was really impressive. As was the depth. Even with Loyd & Terrell in serious foul trouble (which might have contributed to Cal's second quarter drought), productive players just kept coming off the bench. With Loyd out for long stretches, the scoring just kept coming. As always, Cal is really solid. Charleston should be a tougher test for the Lady Vulcans today. That should be a good game.

The STROM method was almost perfectly exemplified yesterday. Uber aggressive on D but don't foul. Attack the ball with long players to deny passing lanes. On offense take threes only when wide open and driving lanes are not available. Shoot FT consistently in the 80%+ range. In her previous 9 seasons VULCANS WBB D has given up an average of 61.62 ppg ranging from 58.5-65.7 so the 60 that WLU is right where it should be.

Strom's ladies will likely get even better at executing that aggressiveness without picking up those fouls.
