  • Colorado Mesa up big at half.

    • IUP up 8 at half.

      Should be double.

      • Big Game Craig ... had 'em all the way.

        • I am not sure how it was even a game! IUP was up 11 - 0. That should have been ballgame given how IUP scores. But they appeared to be lethargic the rest of the way.

IUP advances....but made it harder than it needed to be.

I do think this is the end of the line for IUP. Mesa is good. Very good. Having a day off tomorrow will help IUP recover, but I see a Grand Valley/Colorado Mesa final on Saturday.

Colorado Mesa gets Duluth. Tough matchup for them.

              • I was there. IUP had a really good following for a Tuesday afternoon and a game that would end at peak rush hour. Cool venue for this, and as an added touch they bussed in a bunch of kids for the first game to fill the stands and give it a great atmosphere. All that aside, IUP was way more athletic than HF but give the opponent some credit. They needed a messy game to have a chance to win and IUP couldn’t hit the close side of the barn for a long stretch. They shot just under 37% and worse than that for a stretch that ran during the middle two quarters. They were just 2-11 from three, although half of those somehow popped out when they looked in.

IUP was sloppy, sloppy, sloppy, but I attribute some of that to how the game was being called. The officiating was atrocious again. The same woman that was a disaster in the regional final somehow drew this game as well. I’m convinced she hates IUP. The other woman was a PSAC official I’ve seen before and the third I had never seen before. Let’s hope that gets cleaned up for Thursday. IUP has a very good chance of advancing. The style of play will suit them better and I got to see a good part of the Mesa vs Duluth game. Duluth shot poorly and turned the ball over a ton.

Hero of the game was Madison Zavasky. Her stat sheet will only show five points, but the three she hit late was huge and if that doesn’t go it, IUP would have been one and done. Credit to that kid for having the guts to take that shot. She only had four threes all season before today.

How many Mesa games have you seen this year? I’m going to guess zero. Yes, it could be the end of the line for IUP on Thursday but it also might not be. All I know for now is they’re in the Final Four and they’ve earned their right to be there.

Five or so hours later and I'm still not processing those 45 game minutes. Lot to digest.

Good. Awful. Great. Sloppy. Craig saving timeouts for 2027.

Holy Family had to muck it up and it worked.

End of it all IUP won the stat that counts the most.

This team has some magic to it. They don't go away.

                    Madison Z .... stone-cold assassin.

Thursday will be a full-blown IUP home game.

                      Two.

And yes. I stand by my position IUP was 20 points better than that team. If IUP doesn't play better than that, they won't win Thursday.

On another subject, how Weaver was not named an All-American is beyond me. But Holy Family had one...

                      • I’m not going to take anything away from the season Taylor Hinkle had for Holy Family. She played the competition she played and couldn’t control that and had a ton of double doubles.

Setting that aside, anyone watching yesterday could see that IUP has at least three players that are better and Hinkle choked in the biggest moment shooting an airball on her first free throw late and then missing the second badly. That was in all likelihood the difference between winning and boarding the bus home. Wilkerson controlled her throughout the game except when she had to sit for several minutes due to foul trouble. I only saw her play in one game so this might be an unfair statement, but in my opinion she’d MAYBE be a second team PSAC selection.

                        • Although the ladies didnt play their best game.. it was still a great game! Super exciting when IUP tied it up and then kind of took control in OT.

GVSU was a snoozefest. The other team was so over matched GVSU played at about 60% from 8m on.

huntsville-pomona was closer score wise, but level of play was nowhere near IUP/HF or GVSU at 25% lol

We didnt see Mesas game, but hoping IUP can win it to get to Saturdays final!!!

                          • For the most part all the top seeds won, although Cal Poly didn't get it done.

As for the All-American list, I have seen about half of those players on the list play. While I think the first teamers are pretty deserving, I still think at a minimum she is deserving of third team All-American.

                            • IUP is going to play the late game tomorrow (8:30 p.m.)

EDIT: IUP is playing at 6 p.m. Numerous sites reported it incorrectly earlier today.

That should be good for an IUP crowd to attend right?

The venue looks smaller than the KCAC on video...is that correct?
