Highlights from Saturday night. The Griffon women beat Northwest by 23. The first half was one of the better defensive efforts I've seen from them in a while.
At the risk of taking away from the winners, I think the stage was just a little too big for the underdogs in both games. Too bad; it was fun seeing the gym full, and would have been great to experience the atmosphere in a close game. There was a brief taste of it when the Griffon men crawled back to within 4, but the Bearcats put an end to that with a 10-run and it was never competitive after that.
Been meaning to mention that I really like how the new design/paint job turned out. Good stuff.
Field to be determined, but defending national champion Northwest Missouri State seems like a natural invitee.
I would love to see Missouri Southern get into this thing. I think we still have some noise to make this year, and we only have one senior (non starter) on our team - point being the program is doing well and we should be a quite competitive team in this field TBD.
Would be great IMO if half the field were Western (hosts), Northwest, Southern and Washburn. Bring in four of your Northern State / Ferris / Tarleton State kind of programs like this last November and I think you'd see some full houses every night.
Plus 8 in rebounds is the best Griffon performance in conference games and the third-best on the year. 31 FT attempts is the second-most in conference play.
