Drury has been to BU without a return trip 2 years in a row already....this year will make it 3. I've seen the proposed schedule for next year put out by the conference and guess where the game is? 4 years in a row.

Sorry, but that's not a coincidence.

For the record, Drury played 3 games against NCAA tournament teams last year in the conference schedule. How many did BU play?

Ease up big fella! I agree with you. It may really be part of the deal to keep BU from bolting, who knows....It is definitely not fair to Drury

I have to agree that Scotty would not put up with that if the situation were reversed.

Hugely unfair, but if there were a bright side, it gives DU the chance of passing GO and getting straight into the regional if they pull off the upset. Drury could 9 or 10 losses but still get in if they won that game

Well played -- you stole my punch line.

I think I've seen some t-shirts on campus which jokingly tout said fictional programs's undefeated status.

                        When is morning madness?

P.S. It was this morning, no mention of it on BU site.

Coach is the only promoter they have, rest of the athletic department is frozen in time.

When evaluating a team at the beginning of the season, its natural to look at who was lost from the previous season and determine how a team will compensate for the loss. The two personnel losses for Bellarmine are Brent Bach and Jarek Coles. The leading scorer and the rock solid point guard. That is a whole lot to lose. Replacing the point guard is the biggest question mark for the Knights. Replacing the scoring from Bach will be a team effort. Replacing the point guard falls squarely on Parker Chitty and/or C.J. Fleming. The good news is that either one is capable of being better than Coles and in combination with each other I expect the point guard play will be even better than last season.

The bedrock principal of the Knight's offense is efficiency. Scotty's team ALWAYS shoot better than 50% from the field and there is absolutely no reason that this team will not do at least that well. To fill the gap left by the departure of Bach, I would expect the points to be distributed through the team. If Jenkins is the replacement in the starting line up, look for him to contribute 7-9 points per game in replacing Bach's total. He probably will do that while shooting as good or better percentage as Bach. (Bach, btw, incredibly efficient for a guy who led the team in scoring and shots taken). Jenkins will probably help the defense by 2-3 ppg over Bach, but I'm ignoring that for the time being. The rest of the scoring can be picked up by the front court, specifically:

Eberhard: Needs to average about 2 more shots per game while maintaining his shooting percentage. This is a significant improvement, but one he can make.
Cook: Looking back at his numbers, his offensive efficiency is off the charts. He needs to shoot the ball about 3 more times per game. I would expect him to shoot a lower percentage than last year, but improve his three point percentage. Of course he needs to play in every game this season.
Weyer: Needs to improve his overall game and not just think of himself as a 3 point shooter. His season average for three's was great at around 41%, but we all know that it was declining during the course of the season.
Corbett: I'd like to see him get more shots overall this season, but fewer 3's. He is not a great 3 point shooter. The biggest question for him is his health. Not sure he will ever be 100%, but expect him to be very efficient while probably playing 20 minutes a game.
Ramser: Play just like last year, just hit more of those open shots.
Palombizio: Can make this whole analysis useless if he is really good. If he can shoot over 50% and average 10-11 ppg, the status quo from last year from everybody else will be sufficient.

As already mentioned in previous posts, turnovers could be a big issue with this team, and turnovers along with poor defensive rebounding, are how a team losses even when it out shoots its opponent. Chitty, Eberhard and Cook are the players that need to reign in their turnovers. I do expect that this team will dominate the boards, however. In fact, offensive rebounding could make up for a slight decline in shooting efficiency.

Good analysis for the offensive side of the ball, but besides your small blurb on Jenkins defensive efforts, you left out how this team will be on defense. Scotty's teams have steadily improved defensively over the years to the point now defense is up there with field goal percentage as the two big characteristics of recent teams. I don't see that trend changing with this year's team.

The guard position on defense becomes a huge advantage for the Knights this year. Jenkins, if fully healthy, has always been one of the best defensive guards on any of Scotty's teams. Pair him with Chitty, the defensive player of the year in the GLVC, who should be playing nearly 10 minutes more a game and you got a pair that can lock down any team's guards. Fleming is no slouch himself and with an added year of experience he will be even tougher. On the front line, Cook is such a good athlete, can block shots and rebound like no other. I have a feeling Palombizio (from now on "Palo" until somebody comes up with something wittier) is quite similar to Cook in talent so I expect he will be tough as well. Corbett and Weyer are a tad slower than Cook (and probably Palo) but are good rebounders and can guard the 4s and 5s of opposing teams. Eberhard is just too smart for other teams. He seems to know exactly what is needed on defense just like he does on offense. But if there is any issues when it comes to defense Ramser is usually the solution. Its nice to have a guy who can come in and guard almost any player on the opposing team and still not be a liability on offense (especially when he makes the easy shots.) I can't count the times he has come into a game and started a rally. Hunter should do well this year as well. Who knows about the freshmen and Claycomb. If they get any substantial playing time, I am sure it will be due to their defensive abilities.

Yeah, Scotty did have a nice social media post about it yesterday. I presume the local media were there, like they have been in the past; later I'll poke around and see if I can find some links to coverage.
