The Message Board Top 25 Poll....starting 9/13

Just an idea here..but I'm going to mention this on our Sunday Night Show..a spot for our users to drop their own Top 25 Poll. If this were to catch fire, maybe we can have someone tabulate it and there can be a fan top 25 poll as a result also.

If interested, enter your own top 25 poll here on Sunday/Monday and let's see what the results are. This is a new idea but we are curious to see what that would look like.

Rank 1-25, similar to how you'd see the poll typically listed.

In the past, someone had an app/site, where D2 posters could submit their top 25. It was pretty straightforward. And it tabulated all the results for a "final" poll. No doubt that there were a variety of polls. Still the consolidated poll was quite credible.

Yeah that part is simple, I think when push comes to shove MOST people on here won't be able to pick a poll that is much different than the current polls. The point I was trying to make is it is easy to thump your chest and demand your team be ranked but do you truly have the full knowledge needed to vote truthfully on who should be ranked and where, do you have the time and resources to view more than your own team's games or even conferences?

I'd doubt it for most of the people here. I still want to try it.

When I was submitting a poll, I tried to determine if the teams ranked higher SHOULD beat the teams below. I know I had bias.. Usually historical, some better familiarity with some teams. In the few polls that we see these days, some of the team order does leave one to a few head scratchers. Not so much, early in the season, as the variability can be rationalized. But once a few weeks go by, I do shake my head at a few. Ironically, I point to the bias of the voters for that. LOL

Any one poll would not be good, but the biases would aggregate out with enough participation. If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing for the fun and engagement.

I like it as it gives a bunch of us who follow DII football a chance for a little input. I can already see quite a difference in the rankings submitted. Give it a few weeks as I think more people will submit a poll as time goes on.

I think it would be easier if there was a form to complete, however maybe it's better for there to be a higher barrier to entry as only those willing to put together a forum post will get counted. Though, I imagine it would be easier on the back end if all entries were standardized in terms of team names. Regardless...
