I don't think the AD had one thing to do with the firing. At that level they take orders from very powerful, wealthy people.Originally posted by IUPFan69 View PostLouisiana Governor Landry says LSU AD Scott Woodward won’t be hiring the next LSU head coach. Get your popcorn ready.
ADs can be replaced tomorrow. Those whales not so much.
They had the decision meeting at the Governor's Mansion. True story.

Donors make the call. But hey, they give all the money, so that’s how it should be. Money talks, and bull**** walks. Where did you hear about the governor’s mansion?Originally posted by IUPbigINDIANS View Post

Penn State is now 0 for 3. Matt Rhule signs an extension with Nebraska through 2030.
First was Curt Cignetti. Next was Lane Kiffin (announced he wasn't interested and the school said they were working on an extension). Third is Matt Rhule (who was the clear betting favorite).
For my money, I would bet at this point that their next head coach will be Pat Fitzgerald.
Money certainly talks and these coaches are all ego maniacs. But I think it's pretty interesting that people are obviously turning down the opportunity. Tells me a couple of things...
1) Penn State is probably offering their next coach LESS than what they were paying Franklin. That's likely coming up in conversations and pushing people away. As I've stated here before, Penn State is not in exceptional financial shape.
2) People in the profession don't view the job as favorably as the masses do that are "fans." Nebraska isn't a better program than Penn State is. Not anymore it isn't.
3) It's likely that many see them firing Franklin when and how they did (after he just accumulated the 2nd most wins amongst coaches in the last 4 years) as a major red flag (to be fair, I think that'll be the same story with the LSU job after the ADs comments).

Or the governors comments. Good grief I don't know why anyone would want to take that LSU job if you are already in a successful spot right now.Originally posted by IUP24 View PostPenn State is now 0 for 3. Matt Rhule signs an extension with Nebraska through 2030.

Fitzgerald? Of all schools, I would think Penn State would want to shy away from someone who was fired due to a scandal at his previous school.Originally posted by IUP24 View PostPenn State is now 0 for 3. Matt Rhule signs an extension with Nebraska through 2030.
