The number you were given by IUP back then would have been smaller as well. Schools typically promote their enrollment by counting every student. This site counts full-time equivalences, which means three people each taking four hours would equal one.

You all haven't even been the best team in the region over the last decade. You're good but not fear-inducing. No one in this region is. You're just another good SR1 program, like the other good programs in the region.

I think there is an error somewhere - all the other schools have equal operating and total costs, pretty sure that's not correct, maybe a typo or has to do with accounting details. I'm sure IUP's 1.7 M is higher than most others, but the rest must be anear at least 1 M.

Yep. It almost feels like the level schools are at now is near their norm and that those 2010 numbers were just a huge bubble...that broke. Maybe the numbers now are slightly lower than what the norm should be because of cost, but probably not drastically low. Of course, lower the price and more students would go, but the state funding is huge in that.

The schools were for a lot of years built to handle the demand of their peak years though, which was the issue. So now they're shedding that where they can, but Unions play a role and you'd can't just tear down a building to avoid the debt...as we all know.

There's been a cataclysmic drop off in enrollment at IUP. About 50% less from the high water mark of 2012 or 2013 where there were just over 15,000 students on campus. They aren't even filling up all the dorms. Two years ago, I don't even believed they opened every residence hall.

Those are undergrads only and maybe FTE not total individual students like we traditionally think. Athletic reporting is screwing and uses abnormal numbers. For example, APR is even more stupid than Graduation Rate calculation.

When IUP was at 15,000 was everyone's peak around 2010. They're now down to 9,300 hence the need to make major cuts. It was a perfect storm of birth rate peak plus booming adult enrollment from the recession. Its now way down and in my opinion the schools not down as much have attracted students by looking more successful & attractive than the ones down even more that look less successful & attractive whether its SRU & WCU stealing from other PASSHE schools or private schools discounting their sticker price heavily for average students. From what I've been told, Pitt and Penn State branches are down similarly while the main campuses are up slightly (which gets all the news coverage).

Regional rankings are out. As I suspected, they're usually different than fans think they will be.

    Bentley is 1.
    Kutztown is 2.
    Shepherd is 3.
    Cal is 4.
    IUP is 7.
    Slippery Rock is 8.

IUP should be in good shape at 7 as long as they don't lose again.
