There’s a reason they got both of those guys very cheap. It didn’t help that the O-line was a sieve. They also don’t have any playmakers outside of Pickens. If this never ending Brandon Aiyuk saga with the 49ers doesn’t end with the Steelers getting him it could be a long season. It might be either way.

The further away they get from Ben Roethlisberger, the more it becomes abundantly clear that he was the one who really carried that franchise - not Tomlin, not Ben combined with Tomlin. Ben - nobody else. And I say that given that Tomlin has a large hand in roster construction of that team. This was a team he drafted and built. These are "his guys," as they say in the sports world. Having a top end QB in any level of football helps everyone, but with that guy, Tomlin has won 3 playoff games in 13 years.Originally posted by EyeoftheHawk View Post
It was hard to find anyone that played well in that snoozer. Those QB’s looked awful. Who’s the third stringer?
Hard to take a lot from a pre-season game but that was a concerning performance.
So when I read articles, or hear things on the radio, etc., that say the Steelers lack playmakers or lack whatever... This is Tomlin's team, playing Tomlin's style. All of their money is on defense, and one can argue how impactful that defense actually is. (not elite unless getting turnovers, constant question marks at corner, injury prone Watt, an aging Heyward, etc.). The OL isn't meshing (because he is making the decision to play guys out of position or not play his best guys there). Fields can't take a snap under center. Wilson looks so lost. Harris is a good back every few games. They are an absolute mess, but I'm sure they'll go 9-8 and get the last playoff spot on the last week of the season LOL
The reality is that they need a total reset and a 3-5 win season.

Dondrea Tillman had a good preseason might make the broncos, though it’s a long shot. https://broncoswire.usatoday.com/202...-pennslyvania/

Man, he's so close. I think he's a lock for the practice squad -- providing another team doesn't grab him. Injuries are piling up league-wide.Originally posted by Ram040506 View PostFormer Ram OT Joey Fisher was cut by the Steelers yesterday. Hopefully he can get on their practice squad again.

Yea, I think he'll see some NFL action somewhere this year. If he is fortunate enough to land on the practice squad, like you said with injuries- I could see another team scooping him up at some point.Originally posted by IUPbigINDIANS View Post

Bagent is the clear cut #2 in Chicago. Fending off Austin Reed (whom he was compared to a good bit as a former D2 guy himself) and Rypein who was with the new OC at a previous stop. He's been fun to watch on Hard Knocks as well.

I really like what I've seen from Bagent at the NFL level. The way Caleb Williams plays, he's going to get hurt and Bagent will get opportunities to play. And as a backup QB, if you do well enough in your opportunities, somebody will take a shot on you as a transitional starter while looking for the high draft pick at QB.Originally posted by Ram040506 View Post

But at the end of the day, you can make a ton of money simply being a quality backup for a number of years in the NFL. He looks like the type of QB who can stand on the sidelines for 10-12 years and be ready to give an adequate replacement level performance when his number is called. All things considered, that's impressive and something to marvel at. Most QBs fizzle out in 3 years or less.

Lol... Only because most are overvalued and drafted way higher than they should be.Originally posted by crixus View Post
