I agree with you about not losing sleep over it and it not impacting my life. I don't care either. As I've gotten older, I can't tell you how separated I've become from Pittsburgh Steelers fandom. I'm merely pointing out the completely different approaches the local media took to covering both individuals when they were in Pittsburgh, and their exit, subsequently.

I'm not - at all - trying to stoke any flames on the Kenny Pickett conversation. But I recall how much menace existed, even on this message board, regarding how he exited Pittsburgh. Fields wanted a guarantee. He didn't get one. He left. And people aren't chasing him down with a PAT bus to run him over on his way out the door. The two situations were nearly identical, but the coverage and tone from the media and fans was not.

That's the last I'll say on the subject for not wanting this thread to go in a direction that I'm sure nobody wants it to go. Lol

They weren't identical. Kenny was perceived to have acted like a little b!tch (recall the Seattle incident). The media (and town) turned on him. He also wasn't popular in the locker room per most. Did the town turn on him because of the media? I'm sure it didn't help.

Yinzers don't turn on their players very often. That actually got quite ugly.

Fields was a FA and got a significantly larger offer than the Steelers were supposedly dangling.

Fields was also the backup QB in Pittsburgh.

I could give a rats a$$ about the Steelers. But, I do listen to this crap EVERY SINGLE DAY, year-round, on the radio.

Tomlin and the Steelers wouldn't provide that to him as a long term option for them, so he went elsewhere. Which, hilariously, is no different than Kenny Pickett requesting a trade out of Pittsburgh because he was told there would be a QB competition, and then Tomlin turned around and told him that there wouldn't be.

One of those situations was met with, and still is met with, vitriol, hatred, and menace from the fans and local media (those who are supposed to be fair, objective, and professional). The other was met with positivity for Fields, given that he got more money and a good opportunity.

Stat lines were, if we are being totally objective, pretty similar between them both.

All that said... Kenny Pickett was not a good QB for the Steelers. But if you think that watching these situations unfold in back to back years that the local media ever covered him fairly, you are in complete denial.
Dude got to take the final snap in the Super Bowl.

A big chunk of Steelers fans are also Penn State or WVU fans. That didn’t help Kenny.

It’s a replay of life after Bradshaw. It was a very long time after Bradshaw left that they were legitimate contenders. They had the Neil O’Donnel teams that were good and made a Super Bowl, but over those years they had nothing close to a franchise QB. Terry Bradshaw took his last snap in 1982. It was 2004 before Ben Roethlisberger took his first. When you get a shot to replace your franchise guy, you can’t miss or get caught up in their feelings. Ben was in Pittsburgh at least two years too long.

I think Kenny got hate from all directions, even Pitt fans. The local sports media is strangely venomous about Pitt football and they stoked the fire. Then Kenny didn’t handle that well and it just got worse from there. I never thought Kenny would be more than a journeyman QB and now he’s on his third team already, but the Steelers probably would have been just as good with him last season as they were with Fields and Wilson.

If Rodgers takes the Giants offer instead, Russ should raise his price by about 40 percent. He'll be the last man standing at that point -- prior to entering the true dumpster dive stage.

The B-Team was flinging some rumors this morning ... possible trades for Kyler Murray or Anthony Richardson.

Daniel Jones, thought to be a 'Plan C' ... signed with the Colts (1 year, $16m).

                • As of this moment, Mason Rudolph is the Yinzers' starting QB.

He just signed a 2-year deal worth $8m.

They have to be working on something else, right? You don’t trade for a big-name receiver and extend him just to settle for Mason Rudolph as QB1.

The Yinzers and Giants are awaiting Aaron Rodgers' decision.

Sounds like Russ may sign with Cleveland (in an ironic twist to play with Kenny P).

So, whomever doesn't get Rodgers has quite an issue.

Mason was signed as the clear QB2. So we think, at least.

Kirk Cousins is a name now surfacing on Pittsburgh radio as a possible Plan B (to Plan B).

It would be in the Steelers best interest long term to start Mason Rudolph and be done with it.

                          • Yinzers sign Ginger Jesus.

                            Good luck with that.

Darnold signed a $100m deal with the Seahawks. Amazing the kind of money QBs who haven’t won anything can make.

Ginger Jesus has a ring..he was having an MVP season before he got hurt. But he was a little ***** afterwards because Big Dick Nick got all the love and then they drafted Hurts. The Eagles jettisoning BDN off and keeping him was a mistake because Wentz never won a single playoff game as a Bird. We’ve moved on to bigger and better things in Philadelphia.

                                Jalen Hurts is QB1.
