Yeah, hopefully, the wind is blowing out if you drive one deep.

They could have made a really cool logo with that name.

Don't forget, however, when the name initially changed the senior class voted for it to become The Fighting Squirrels (as a homage to the Oak Grove). That was ultimately (thankfully) overridden.

Angelo State is the defending national champion. They started this years World Series as the No. 8 seed.

IUP has to beat them today and tomorrow in order to reach Saturday.

Tall task, for sure. But, this is a pretty resiliant team.

They have to get those bats going today.

So, we at least still get to hear it in the Homecoming Parade every year.

I agree with you on the Big Indians but it's unfortunately never coming back.

Crimson Hawks has grown on me over the years. It's at least somewhat different. Bears, my opinion, is a dime a dozen nickname.
A lot of the schools that were blackmailed by the NCAA over their Native mascot nicknames changed to a bird.

I thought the bear was getter.

I attended IUP from 1998 to 2003, and I loved being the Indians. I remember the band playing Cherokee as the football team ran onto the field. I wish and hope they would bring back Indians. I’m sorry but it makes sense town of Indiana.

Plus Indiana high school is still the little Indians. Do they still play Cherokee at games? Just wondering I honestly don’t know

The Bear mascot/logo was just fine. I would have preferred it over the Hawks. The IUP Bears.

He's a lot like Joe Lombardi was in his early years at IUP.

He doesn't take any crap but the players really respond to him.

Word is their phone is ringing off the wall with transfers wanting to play for him.

What an amazing run. This is the grittiest team on campus. For Jake Black to toe the rubber today in that spot and yield just three baserunners for eight inning was unreal. The diving stop by Pontoli was clutch and should be a Sports Center Top 10.
