While the coaches' meeting and these picks are sort of the kick-off to the new season, it isn't really news. There isn't much change from year to year in the East or the West. We know who the top teams are, the middling teams, and the floundering teams. For example, in the West SRU and IUP battle for the championship, followed by potential spoiler Cal, and the rest of them aren't in the discussion. Maybe there will be a surprise but probably not. Maybe IUP doesn't fix their punt protection, who knows?

If the transfer LBs ;play like previous LB transfers (Wickline, Zappone & Zaffram) D could be real special; they are very deep and talented upfront, transfer DBs can have an impact as well; not sure about going to a 4-2-5, instead of past successful 4-3.
Lots of RBs in stable; but ground and pound would be a departure from offensive philosophy; OL will have to improve and become more aggressive to implement strong run game.

It starts up front. I wonder how former PSU commit SAB will do at WR...

But, we've seen this before. GU always has a lot of talent. They seemed to have moved past the #LIT-AF era under this new regime. They lost a lot of close games last year -- and nearly won at IUP last year.
Of those outside the Big 3, they'd be my pick to beat one of said Big 3.

Cal has a few DB transfers to help fill the losses.
Noah Hamlin - Cincinnati / Toledo and Jermichael Isom from Wheeling
Also got a WR from Georgia St
Clarion had a few RB's pop up from Erie.
Danny Blue who at one point I thought had some MAC offers but ended up signing at Cal. He signed at Cal in 2020.
And Elijah Lopez who played his sr year in florida in 2020. He's smaller but fast.
Tough place to go play RB.
