Why would you fire your foosball coach in June?

I don't think they did. He took a job outside of athletics.

The internal hire is DC Kevin May... isn't that the guy whose brilliant defense was taking Division 2 by storm?

          Yes.

But, it's only brilliant certain weekends. Other weekends it gives up 40 burgers.

Seton Hill lost some (all) of its best players to the Portal this offseason. It may be a long season in Greensburg.

How bad is it to work for Seton Hill?

A lot of teams were decimated by the portal - either losing the best guys or keeping a couple with not much around them. Tort holding on to his best returners is a near miracle. SRU finished the season #3 in the nation with plenty of opportunity to make another run - and most of their returning skill players jumped ship.

I have multiple friends who have worked there (1 currently). There are worse places to live & work. None moved to Greensburg, though.

I think for being a head coach, there's so much pressure on you to bring in players like the D3 model, and their budget isn't strong enough to support more discounting, so you're not playing with the same deck as other teams in the conference. I don't think its an easy sell unless you really want a Catholic education in a bigger town environment but not a city. There is no student culture beyond campus. No party scene, no bar scene, no easy fun places to walk with friends. The campus is rather isolated within a nicer residential section of the city with big older homes.

I was only in Greensburg a few times and from what I can remember it was a decent town. County seats usually are..unless you are Norristown.

It has a greater mini metro than Indiana with everything in Hempfield, but Indiana has a much better downtown.

I think I was only there once and all I remember was the Courthouse. It was an impressive edifice.

                      • The longtime head coach at Geneva College announced that he's moving to a pre-retirement administrative role after this season and that may attract some interest from PSAC coordinators wanting to work at a small conservative faith-based school. Geneva has a great little stadium that in some ways reminds me of State College HS.

                        • Shepherd's OC Tom Clark has moved on as well. Former DE from the mid 2010's Elijah Norris joined the defensive staff as the new Defensive Line coach as well.

Sorry, but having Coach Clark as the OC was a total JOKE!! Ernie runs the offense and I have to think he did Coach Clark or someone connected to him a favor by hiring him in that spot. Coach Clark is back where he belongs and excelled - on the defensive side of the game. Best of luck to him at D3 CNU!!!

He's been the head coach since 1993.
