  • Harding at GVSU

Really worried about this one. Glad its at home, but as banged up as our oline is, its going to be hard to sustain drives and finish them, which is going to need to happen to keep Harding's offense off the field and helps out our defense. Points are going to be at a premium in this matchup. Hopefully GVSU can keep it within 2 or 3 touchdowns.

‘‘Twas a fun game last year when these two teams met. Should be another classic.

Should be a better game than the game that's going to hurt attendance for this game, Michigan at Ohio State.

This was my favorite game I ever played in last year. Looking forward to sitting on the coach and not having to duke it out with this squad again! Should be a great game!

Fired up after last years game, and with how Harding is rolling, it might be a blood bath like Pitt State. I’ve kept up with GV after last years defensive rock fight and think this is nothing like the GV squad that came toe-to-toe with the Bisons in Searcy last year. Harding 42 GV 7

Someone fill me in on how GV is this year compared to last season?

All three phases were better last year.

I was most impressed last year with GV’s defense. They were by far the best personnel we faced all year. Wonder how they stack up this year.

I wish GVSU could pack out the stadium for this one, but that’s not going to be the case, with it being Thanksgiving break and the OSU vs UM game happening the same weekend. Playing at Lubbers before myself, that’s the 12th-man effect that changes games for them. I'm not sure GV has the discipline on defense to make consistent stops. Their offense, too, needs to possess the ball, and it seems like their banged-up OL is not helping with this. Ferris fan rooting for GV but it doesn’t look good from the outside looking in..

Will this be on ESPN+ again? Enjoyed opening round games being on ESPN+, broadcasts by Pitt state and UCO were both very good.

Nope - this second round game no matter who it was, was going to prove difficult for GV - the D is very good BUT the O has not been all season - we do not have the passing attack we have had in the past and unfortunately, just like last year when we faced Harding, our O-line is nearly all backups after several injuries and that's not a good thing - keeping it close will be the objective but not sure we can - I'll be watching and pulling for my Lakers but it may not be real pretty - if the dogs take care of business this coming week we can see how they do against Harding in the regional final

Can you explain why you say this? Defense stats are better this year by about 30 yards per game, Special teams have been more productive this year...Offense is down about 28 yards per game if the stats on the GVSU website are accurate,,,using this year to date versus total stats for last year. I get it that the style of offense is much different but not sure that is a real problem.

I am sure the boys from Searcy are used to playing in 20 degree weather with wet snow, it should not be an issue. GVSU defense might be even better at tackling in space this year compared to last year. I guess we shall see....will you be traveling to Allendale? If so bring your wet cold gear with you, you are going to need it.

Said all along this game worries me more than any other matchup we could have faced not because the other teams aren’t really really good as well but because of the way that GVSU D matches up against us. Far and away the best def team we faced last year and the only team to really slow down our off at all. Def line of GVSU against our Oline was a draw last year and as I’ve said before and say again maybe the best open field tackling team I’ve seen at any level ever in college fb. If the defense is anything like last years this will be a rock fight all day.

Only issue Harding has had with cold weather was the helmets deflating from air temp change- caused 3 concussions vs Ferris in 2018.
