(The road closes at Crested Butte in the winter). Great town but I would not consider it the most isolated campus that I've been to or worked at.

As for proximity to the community and local venues, Southern Indiana comes into play. Campus is really isolated from the greater Evansville area and unless you're going to campus, there is no reason to go down the road that leads to campus. Northern Arizona is another one as campus is really spread out and not walking is out of the question.

Isolation is definitely up for debate. We deal with that isolation up here at CWU, where 90 miles of Interstate 90 and Snoqualmie Pass separates us from Seattle (thank God). Everyone is intimidated by Snoqualmie in the winter. It's not that high in elevation (3100 ft), but when it snows......it snows. However, DOT does an excellent job keeping that road open. It's rare when it's shut down for more than a few hours or overnight. But it's difficult to find teams who want to make that trip in December or January for bball season. Football teams might fly into Yakima which is 40 minutes away (airport to CWU), but that's not always the easiest flight to find, without going into SEA, Spokane first.
Looooooooong winded way of saying, isolation might not be hours away from anything, but the complication of the trip itself.

Back to the playoff discussion.
Listening to the NSIC broadcasts they think Central Washington doesn't belong in the playoffs and that Bemidji is coming to Texas with experience to beat UTPB.
Ironically enough 2 out of 3 of the NSIC playoff teams have losses to non playoff teams and recently have been getting their doors blown off the second round of the playoffs.
Good luck to the LSC going 2-0 this weekend and make it a Mines vs. Central Washington/UTPB regional final.

Same with me. All the big dawgs (those that have been on the board a long time) know me and my BS. Heck I was first "ASUPop" in 2008 or 2009. Got pissed and asked Brandon to delete my user. Then decided that was dumb. Hence why I am now ASUPops with a 2014 join date. 😂😂😂.
I am just glad I stopped juicing and no longer have roid rage. SHEEESH, that was a nightmare.

I bring up the experience thing for PB in my column, but PB has won a bunch of different ways this season and Hrncir is a veteran QB. PB’s not a bunch of kids getting together for the first time-this is a team of mainly upper-class and transfer players.
CWU - which team belonged in their place? Pueblo? Duluth? As best as I know, Angelo was the number 8 team, so if anyone was going to get in that wasn’t CWU, it would be them. Better hope Volk doesn’t get another pick six or two.
(Update - I watched the preview, and there was some discussion about CWU's loss to Montana Tech, as I thought there would be. That being said, that NAIA team is actually an NAIA playoff team for what it's worth.)Last edited by cwfenn; 11-17-2023, 09:19 AM.
