There was talk around the league in the offseason about there being FBS interest in him...and a bag of cash..etc. (similar to Jay Harris from NWMSU to Oregon..both on our Elite 100 team)Originally posted by Predatory Primates View Post
Or he shows up week 0 wearing disgusting Bearcat Green. ;)
I think his timing on this hurts that idea....being there before Spring ball would've been much better for D1's..but I'm feeling pretty certain his interest is FBS..and FCS (if needed)..but probably not D2. Given this is kinda late in the game..who knows.

It had been 12 seasons since we bested the mighty Mavs of Mankato, so beating them twice in 2023 left me giddy. Could be another 12 seasons before Augie does it again. Lawson Butler wasn't hot the 2nd half of season. Don't think Mav fans will miss him.Originally posted by vikingfaithful View Post
He is a helluva tailback, but don't show film of his two games against Augustana. Not good Ha.

We won in 2021 45-35 in Mankato. Only two years.Originally posted by vikingfaithful View Post

He did struggle a bit against Augustana and UMD.Originally posted by vikingfaithful View Post

11/18 @Augustana - 10 carries 36 yards 0 TD
11/11 vs UMD - 13 carries 60 yards 0 TD
10/21 @Augustana - 14 carries 41 yards 0 TD
Wonder if his decision was also based on his anticipated number of carries this year.

Unless he was the whole offense, 4.6 yards per touch against UMD isn't terrible unless he busted one or 2 runs in there and got stonewalled the rest of the times.Originally posted by BulldogFan View Post

Shen Butler-Lawson to the portal today....some of the biggest D2 portal news this year. D1 aspirations, I assume.

Cooper DeJean came from a small school in Iowa and had a fantastic career for the Hawkeyes. Koi is a fairly similar type of player. I see him doing well for the Gophers.Originally posted by SW_Mustang View Post
After I Googled it, I remembered they co-op with Cloquet for hockey.
That being said, he hasn't exactly played top level talent. Rooting for him though.

Certainly hope he makes it - the odds for those types of guys are astronomical though. I've got no reason to root against him.Originally posted by Peacockfan View Post

We all know a plethora of small town studs that never translated at the next level. It's honestly why I'm not entirely against bigger city schools and recruiting, so we can give these small town kids a shot to prove themselves and utilize resources before they get to college, but that's an entirely different discussion.

I'll bite. I'm fine with recruiting if they are forced into the top class of competition. Simple as thatOriginally posted by SW_Mustang View Post

I know it's an unpopular opinion. It bums me out to see guys like Koi get stuck in Esko when they should be allowed to develop at a higher level and utilize increased resources. That's all.
