Re: Iup basketball
Yep. And, said goon played almost exclusively in the second half.

Re: Iup basketball
That goon was taking shots all over the place. I thought Cobo was going to explode when he took the cheap shot after the one dunk. Cobo never shows emotion like that.Originally posted by IUPbigINDIANS View PostI think Joe is in the pick 'em and was trying to cover that 24.5 spread. Only reason I can think 5 starters were still in with 50 seconds left and a 20-some lead.
Playing with fire. In particular when Clarion had a goon in the game taking cheap shots all night.
Any way ... good win for a 'get it over with' game. Turnovers were too high (near 20).
Dante was on fire.
For being 4 and a ton of losses Clarion fought pretty hard. Their top two guys are pretty good. That's just all they have.
As expected ... awful crowd. Imagine a funeral home.

Re: Iup basketball
The weather probably didn't tonight's game any favors crowd-wise. Three local high schools have playoff games tonight.
There was a time not all that long ago that Clarion was considered a big game here. They had some really good teams in the 1990s and early 2000s.

Re: Iup basketball
Joe said on his radio show this morning that as of now the game is still on ... but it's up to Clarion being they have to travel and it's a little rough up in their location.
The heavy snow has stopped ... mainly just flurries now.

Slippery Rock will be intersting to follow in the coming years now that the JUCO Godfather has left town. Hard to gage this year because Grady is working with a KR designed roster.Originally posted by Golden89 View PostTrue ... UPJ is going to be a problem next year. That whole team is back and will only be better.
Add to it they will get guard Drew Magestro back ... who sat out this year with a knee injury.

Re: Iup basketball
Yes. He was a small forward at Sienna and was projected to be a big shooter for them. He had injury problems there. Last year was his first season ever playing a power forward role.
He's a strong guy. We've seen flashes of it. He just needs to cut it loose. His best game all year was at Fairmont. He dominated the glass. Granted, they are a much smaller team than he sees in the PSAC.
The talent, size, speed and strength is all there.
