Re: Iup basketball
Dante wasn't ran in to when he was injured. I'll leave it at that. Two guys, Dante and No. 15 (Troy Jones) standing beside each other during an inbound and one suddenly gets floored by a 'mid-section' injury. Neither are even running when it happens.
Watch the film. It's at the 14:10 mark of the second half.
No room for that stuff.

Re: Iup basketball
The ones here in Erie suck! Tom Riesenweber of the Erie Times actually tweeted last night saying Jaryn Simpson of Edinboro is one of the top 5 guards in the league. (One of my buddies showed me b/c he's spineless and has me blocked on twitter because I call him out on garbage like this.) Has that guy even watched any PSAC games. There were 5 better in the IUP/ESU game last night alone. Unreal how bad the media is in Erie. Indiana, Pa is blessed to have solid guys that have facts and aren't afraid to criticize either.

Re: Iup basketball
I watched Malik's technical this morning. It's at the 3:22 mark of the second half. I didn't see it in real time last night and ESU doesn't have replay.
ESU's Jakwan Jones shouldered him and he pushed back. Clear as day. As usual, he who goes second gets called for it. It was a typical Jones play from last night.
Jones tried to agitate Dante all night. Clapped in his face the whole game, etc. The refs talked to him 3 different times but never T'd him up for taunting. He'd have been T'd up twice in the KCAC or a neutral court.
He did a lot of yapping for having Dante drop 33 in his face. Had he put as much effort in to his own poor 1-for-7 shooting night from deep his team may have won the game. Instead, Dante got to talk and clap the whole ride home.Last edited by IUPbigINDIANS; 01-17-2019, 10:14 AM.

Now the PA Announcer ... yeah, bush league antics. That's not a cheerleader position for the home team as they use it. There's the line of getting more animated for the home team score announcement and then the line of "everybody get on your feet we need a big stop" ...
The Dante private parts blown call ... it happens. It was off the ball and you have all those bodies running in the half court. I can see how it got missed.
I actually thought IUP dealt with the press pretty well. Having those two 6'10" guys up there helps.
The refs were terrible both ways but fairly even on their terribleness. ESU had three guys foul out. When those clowns want to be the show ... they ruin the game. That crew, especially its captain, thinks people come to see them.

Re: Iup basketball
I don't agree with saying about the pressing teams having a great advantage at home. At least not in his case. ESU embarrassed them in the KCAC last year for 28 TOs ... 24 last night.
Not a coincidence. Too much hot dog, out of control stuff by certain players.

Re: Iup basketball
The one for sure was a travel, a couple were suspect and he was definitely shoved on the one he got the technical. I question him getting pushed on a couple other travel calls but they were close.

Re: Iup basketball
At least 5 were traveling, couldn't tell too much from the feed, but I got the impression they were calling them pretty close. The technical he received was after one of those calls.
In the post game interview, Joe pointed out the the advantage pressing teams have at home. Dante got floored from a hit to the nether regions - no call since the officials didn't see it. Joe also mentioned the issue of the PA announcer's support of the home team - which apparently is against the PSAC guidelines for home venues -let's just say its not surprising they do so well at home.
I think those calls and the tight defense got into Malik's head. he's been struggling a , Hopefully he and Foster shake off the slump. They have great chemistry when they play together, maybe getting out of the meat grinder part of their schedule will help.
