    Update:

Chucky has a broken finger and will be out 'several weeks'. He'll miss the Clarion and Seton Hill games for sure.

Now do you active a redshirt with 10 regular season games remaining in addition to the conference tournament and likely NCAA Tournament?

They survived Demo going down. This is starting to ask too much. They survived last night but how long is this sustainable?

Joe's dream of going all Norman Dale and playing with four guys is getting closer.

Activate the big fella, Ousmane Diop. I don't see how they have any other choice. KJ Rhodes is also available but another guard won't help a whole lot.

Shawndale says it ain't easy being 6'3" and playing power forward ... covering John Paul Kromka all night. LOL. He was a warrior.

Luckily, Chucky looks to be OK. He wasn't on crutches ... no boot ... no casts, slings, etc. I'm guessing it was an illness. Perhaps the same that wiped out the women's team.

Last score I could get was 57-48 IUP with 16:11 left.

Wise picked up his third foul early second half.

    Synopsis:

UPJ has escaped some dud performances this year. The recent performances at Edinboro and Clarion - albeit wins - are hard to comprehend. They had the miraculous comeback at Lock Haven and most recently hung on at home to defeat SRU. They were very out of sync in the home loss to Mercyhurst. That said, on other nights they've looked fantastic. UPJ won at Shippensburg and beat up East Stroudsburg.

For years, Coach Rukavina was famous for playing a very short rotation. This year they are playing 8 guys in double digit minutes and have a 9th guy just about there. Like IUP they spread the scoring around. UPJ is known for very hot starts -- particularly in Johnstown. Teams also see a style of offensive play from UPJ that is fairly rare in today's game. They love the back door pass, pick-n-rolls, etc.

From those I know close to the UPJ program, this game has been circled for a long time. They believe this is their year. IUP's weakness this year has been getting off to slow starts. That has to change. For the season, IUP is scoring a full 10 points more in the second half than in the first. They'll need to survive a likely surge tonight to start this game.
