    I imagine its about staffing.

For masks, the PASSHE recommended policy is masks indoors unless actively eating & drinking.

So if visitors or family come, they can meet with players and coaches during the evening. maybe hoping to get more people from a linger distance away. -But yes, it is less likely to get the crazy student crowd, but its pretty clear those things are not the priority at IUP these days. Budget is still really bad.
It won't be good. I know Joe has a massive following compared to just about every other D2 (and some low-end D1) fan base(s) around, but I have no doubt the gate will take a hit over this move.
I've been to a ton of away games at 3 p.m. It's just not the same atmosphere. Tough to get students during the day.

They'll still get the biggest gates in the league (probably by far) ... but I don't see those 3,400+ gates like they had rolling in 2019 playing in the afternoon. You're starting to then compete with youth basketball, blah blah blah. So, you'll probably lose the casual families, etc.

Who knows, maybe it will be a hit. But, I highly doubt it.

I think one of the things that always made IUP special was the Saturday night home games. Not many others play them. I don't know ... Saturday night just has a different vibe to it. It always felt like a bigger stage -- usually being the last game of the day.

So be it. Maybe this is just a one-year thing.

Side note, as expected it sounds like the KCAC will require masks. I haven't heard of any other Covid-related items -- spacing, etc.

However, at 3 p.m. I can guarantee you aren't going to see those lofty gates in the 3,300+ range very often they were getting in 2019.

If you go from 3,300 to 1,500 in the KCAC -- with those jacked up prices -- that's a major decrease in revenue. That's a whole lot less of those MLB-priced food orders, beer sales, ticket sales, etc. Makes sense for a school going more broke by the day. LOL. If I had to guess, they will copy football and start charging for parking to offset some of the losses.

    Wow.

Sure the ladies will love playing at 1 p.m., too.

Do some digging. Find out what the story is. I wondered if it was perhaps a PSAC mandate, but then I figured, they have no issue with teams playing at 7:30 on Monday and Wednesday nights. So I'm not sure of the issue.
