That is correct, heard Bloom and IUP needed an extra non-conference game because of Cheyney. IUP's schedule has Cheyney listed for 2 games in a row for the women.

I asked the PSAC this question and they stated that it is a non-league game. League play begins on December 1, they said.

IUP ladies average margin of victory is 37 points. Three games this week against teams with a combined record of 2-12.

I 'think' Tom is pretty strong this year. But, they haven't been remotely challenged yet. I'd like to see them get put in some tight spots prior to the four games with Cal and Edinboro.

Their SOS is going to be really weak by Sunday night. Back-to-back games against Cheyney not ideal for many reasons. Tom took a really awful non-conference schedule.

Hadn't realized their opponents were quite so weak. It is an odd way to start a season in a highly competitive conference. Makes me a bit more confident that JESS STROM'S team is winning by 18.8 against 5 teams with a combined 16-14 record. SEAIRRA BARRETT had another strong night vs WVSU with 32 pts, 12 rbs and 5 stls.
Crossover schedule (@ 'VILLE, @WCU, CHEY, BU, ESU) isn't a great challenge before serious play begins @'BORO on Jan 2 and @GU on Jan 5. Time will tell.

                  Re: PSAC Women's Basketball (18-19)

IUP moves to 5-0 with this afternoon's 100-44 victory over Cheyney.

All 13 players scored for IUP. The starters got about 17 minutes each. If anything the bench got some good minutes.

They hit the road this weekend for games at Kutztown and Millersville.

Maura D'Anna missed both games this weekend. Injured?

Per the Gazette today, senior guard Lauren Wolosik has a broken hand and top reserve forward Maura D'Anna has a knee injury.

No timetable on either was given.

Tom is very deep but those are two gigantic losses.

Fortunately for C'HAWK fans, these two have 6.5 weeks to heal while the rest of the team deals with the mid-level teams of the conference. Come Jan 19 vs BORO and Jan 24 vs CALU if they're still healing, it will make those games somewhat harder. Luckily both of those games are at home so there's that.

Short-handed IUP hammered Ship last night by 30-some. It was more than 40 at one point. The bench (freshmen class) got to play the entire fourth quarter so that was beneficial.

No timetable announced on Wolosik (broken hand) or D'Anna (knee). Neither dressed last night. Both have missed the past 3 games. D'Anna seems to be walking pretty good (no crutches or anything) so she may be back soon. No need to rush things.

At 8-0, IUP's average margin of victory is at 38 points. They haven't been remotely challeneged yet which isn't a good thing.

IUP (8-0) has moved up to No. 2 in the latest WBCA Coaches' Poll -- receiving (3) votes for No. 1.

Virginia Union (8-1) is No. 12. California (8-0) is No. 14. Edinboro (4-2) has dropped out of the Top 25 (receiving votes). Charleston is receiving votes.

No other Atlantic teams are ranked or receiving votes.
