Of course it is a reward. You never shy away from a challenge. And to piggyback on what you posted earlier, there are enough good people supporting this program to keep it more than.competitive in the future.

Haven’t posted here in a while but I have just heard from a source that the men’s panthers have kicked off two of their rotation players. Not sure how much truth their is to this, but this source hasn’t been wrong before. I won’t say the players names in case this isn’t true, but let’s say one of them has gotten a lot of love on this forum in the past…

The SBU games will be a challenge today as this is their senior day and the students will be loud.

Looks like the two players kicked off were Elijah Whitley and Juok Riak. Drury didn't need these two last night as Logan Applegate scored 36 points, hit 10 of 14 from 3, was 13 of 18 overall as Drury won by 30. Logan made a couple 30 footers and just shot over defenders for the three in one of the best shooting performances in Drury history.
SBU didn't record the first half of this game apparently as you can only view the second half on GLVCSN. BTW, I have never seen a GLVC coach as distraught as SBU Coach Niven in his post game interview.
The Lady Panthers also won in a rout. Drury was up by 35 when the starters sat on the day the Bearcats celebrated 10 seniors. I honestly think SBU's physical conditioning has deteriorated as the season progressed. Coach Harrell needs to respect her conservative school and lose the hoop nose ring.
The Lady Panthers on the other hand are a very well conditioned team. All they need is a little more depth inside to improve their chances in the conference. It was encouraging that Aiden Moxness out performed the 6'7" Tori Hamilton in the post, collecting a very impressive 7 offensive rebounds in 15 minutes of playing time.
Maryville won at Quincy and Truman beat UMSL.
UMSL on the road next.

The Lady Panther's lack of depth was very evident as their bench was outscored 28 to 1 against UMSL. All the starters contributed, but Caitlynn Daniels had to make the majority of the big plays all game. Interesting that UMSL was in a situation where they had to foul with 49 seconds left in the game and had yet to commit a foul in the fourth.
Hopefully the starters have their legs for their game Saturday after logging all but 34 minutes on the road Thursday night.
Watched SBU play Maryville. I had only planned on watching a few minutes, but my curiosity got the best of me and I ended up watching the whole game. The Saints assistant coach would very rapidly and loudly clap when his team was on defense. I estimate he clapped at least 100 times a minute and the sound dominated the arena. This continued to the last seconds of the game. Lets just say I'm not the only one who was curious judging by the camera shots of those in attendance.

Caitlynn Daniels had a Jordan like performance today fighting through sickness that caused her to miss pre-game and shoot around. She was subbed out often, spending that time hunched over the water cooler. The Lady Panthers don't do well with her on the bench.
S and T is a big team and Drury doesn’t match up well, starting four guards. Hopefully the Depth doesn’t take another hit as Gibbons went down on the first play of the fourth and Burns went down in the last minute of the game.
This win should wrap up the number 2 seed in the conference tournament and the Thursday game instead of having to play Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Praying there are no more injury setbacks.
This coaching staff has done a good job through all the adversity.

Drury Men upset #8 national and #1 regionally ranked Missouri S ant T by 12 on senior day. This was the best game the Panthers played all season in my opinion. In hindsight, Foster should have run a four guard lineup like he did tonight all season.
Truman Women led by 4 with less than a minute left, eventually losing to 18 loss William Jewell on a last second shot. Apparently, this lost cost the Dogs 2 spots in the conference seeding, 6th to 8th.
Reese Schaaf had 25 ponts and 15 rebounds for her MIAA leading 16th double double (CMSU game recap posted the wrong double double number for Schaaf). CMSU finishes the regular season at 16 and 12.
Paige Robinson had 23 points and 6 assists against Hannover in her most recent game in Germany, where she averages 19.2 points and 6.2 rebounds in Germany's top league.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think they’ve been playing a 4 guard look all year. Howell is not a big, especially with the way he stretches the floor and does not ever bang in the post.

I do think the winner of Drury/Quincy is going to win the GLVC and be an 8 seed in the region. And a Lewis loss will probably drop them to a 4 instead of a 3, which will give them Grand Valley in the semis.
Drury just has to be concerned about their remaining players staying healthy. Thursday night should be enough of a challenge.Last edited by crazznewt; 03-03-2025, 01:24 PM.

Saw Reese Schaaf didn't even get first team all MIAA. Now, I think she had a fine season just as good or better compared to last year. But going from Midwest Player of the Year a season ago to 2nd team in a conference this year? Interesting what they thought of her in the MIAA. She also got co-newcomer of year. Couldn't even get that award outright.
Interesting how politics come into play during the award season.
