Were where the knowledgeable locals that would turn out to support the game that we heard so very much about during "the game must be moved from Florence" discussion? Last year was the perfect opportunity to determine if these folks actually existed or weather they were a figment of the imagination

The locals clearly outnumbered the UWF fans, and I don't think TAMUC's contingent was much bigger. At the end of the day, good attendance is completely driven by the participating schools' fan bases, and that will be true until the end of time. Your conspiracy theorist ridiculousness is getting tired.

Mmmm no, I didn't. CWU hasn't been relevant since Mike Rieley was there. Kind of like Grand Valley hasn't been relevant since Matt Mitchell has been the head coach.

Not a theory. We were told adnausium that the educated local fans in KC would turn out and insure high attendance even for games that didnt have a local team. Didn't happen which begs the question, what is the reason KC is a better location than any other place across the US??

You keep saying that everyone said this, and it's just not true. Was it said by a couple people? Yes. But it wasn't the prevailing thought. What was the prevailing thought? The world class stadium. That's it.

The MIAA fan base is the most vocal and active fan base in D2, and it is by an incredibly large margin. So there is no question the locals in this part of the country were excited when KC got the bid (myself included....I've been to all four games, too, btw). You've been making a mountain out of a molehill since the snow game, and as I said, its tiring. Anyone who argues about ANY location having great attendance because of the location is blowing hot air (including the extremely small number who said so about KC). The only guarantee of great attendance at the D2 NC game is if a local team plays in it. Period. Children's Mercy Park was a fantastic stadium in all four games. I hope wherever gets the bid can be at least half as nice.

This may be a crazy idea, but why don't we start acting like the division that we are in. We keep looking for these stadiums that hold 20 and 30 thousand, when in reality, it's a typical game is going to hold between 9 and 10000 fans.

For that size you could come up with some option where one of the two teams that are playing in the championship can either host it in their Stadium or work with another local Stadium to host the game. If they are unable to do this, with the NCAA help, then the opponent has a chance to do it. I know that there would be a lot of logistics but you are at least guaranteed to get most of the fans from one of the schools to attend, and you start to see more of your terrain. Plus, all four semifinal teams would have to start too bring the local community up to speed, which broadens our brand, even if the game doesn't end up there.

I agree with Ian. The facility was incredible. I went when my team was there and when they weren't... the weather ducked for the snow game, but the facility was still great. I can only compare between Florence and KC, facilities KC wins hands down... but I also enjoyed my trips to Alabama.

MIAA fans outnumbered fans from CSU-P when I was there, and the highest attended game showed what can happen when a local team gets in it. I'd say for the NCAA to gamble that Northwest or Pitt State will make it is the most well hedged bet they can make in DII based on the past 20 years. During the 4 years the game was there, that bet paid off, too.

just out of curiosity, since you are so vocal about this, how many championship games have you attended? (it doesn't matter for discussion, just curious) if the game is moved within 2 hours of you will you go regardless if your team is?

If he goes to any, it would have have to be regardless of whether his team is in it or not, since going to any because they are in it is not an option.

Wouldn't be totally opposed to that location. Not really a fan of stadiums that are converted baseball fields, but I think we could make it work if they put in a bid for it.

                        Traveling to cold is great!

Sitting in cold to watch a football game, not so much.
That's why I perfer to stand at games in the cold. Then you're not in as much contact with the cold seat that can pull your body heat out. Plus standing just used just that much more muscle to do, so that you should be burning more calories, which produces heat and should keep you warmer.

How big is Dixie State field? It would probably be perfect weather for football in St. George Utah in December.
