Yup, I'll keep beating that drum. Also, extend the time from the semi's to the NC to at least 2 weeks to allow for planning. FCS does it, I think D3 does it, why not D2?

Honestly, there are 2 issues.. fan and athletes. They aren't in opposition, but some solutions will favor the fan experience and others the players'. My gut says that many a player might give up a bit of the "player" experience to get more of their fans in the seats.. especially students. However, not every school has that large of a student body. Still, if there is a good crowd at a semi, that does show there is fan interest.
I agree with a ton of what you wrote.

That was one of the problems with Florence. Many times it was anticlimactic after a packed and raucous semifinal game. The same thing could happen to KC as well depending on the participants, but at least the stadium made everything feel big time.

So why the significant drop in 2017?
The West Florida fans were already in Florida...I am assured that is the place to be! ;-)

I think if you live in a warm weather state going somewhere cold is not a thought that crosses your mind, hell, wife wants to go on an Alaskan cruise and I cringe.:crying:
just look at us Texans when it starts to get below 60.

No, but asinine political comments on the boards just might.

I have some good friends from TAMUK that were absolutely miserable in 35 degree weather that Missourians have no problem with at all.

I'm a little late to the thread and sorry if this is has been said but what about having the game at Georgia State Stadium (Atlanta, GA) in the future. Looks like a nice stadium.

You seriously question why the attendance was low last year? You realize who was playing right?

Alaska is one of the nicest cruises I have ever taken, and we have done 30+ cruises.

We escorted a running club from San Antonio to Iceland during a record snowfall, and enjoyed it thoroughly.

                  Traveling to cold is great!

Sitting in cold to watch a football game, not so much.

No, I get that, although you would think the Cinderella team would have more fans there. But it does fly in the face of MIAA-ville having super-strong D2 general interest. It also contradicts strong LSC support, which would not be an awful drive for them. Mostly, these are all data points that need to be paid attention to.

TAMC was one of the top D2 schools for average attendance in 2017, UWF was in the top 25. There is no reason to expect the attendance to be below average.

Like most above average playing D2 schools, if you look at TAMC box score attendance for away games (especially for November on), it's average to below average attendance.

You find a championship site, whether it's played in consecutive weekends or an extra week in between, a team has to be reasonably close to have great attendance numbers.

Move it to Florida and see what happens with a Central Washington and Minnesota Crookston finale.

Well that's easy because neither of those teams will play for a national championship.

Except for being a couple hours drive from the metroplex, Abilene and Wildcat Stadium wouldn't be a bad idea. The stadium is new, holds 12,000+, has EXCELLENT video and broadcasting abilities and a great video board. There are plenty of hotels as well. The mesquites aren't the best to look at, but hey.... Not sure if it would even be available.

If they could use all of the suites on the west side for media that would work. As it is now there is no room for media on the east side of CSS anymore. One of the drawbacks of being ahead of your time in 1993 is that you may be behind the times 25 years later.

I believe they could use anything behind dark glass on that side for media.
