The trick is to find one that can play the position in college.

The PSAC west has more scholarship money, but Kutztown and Ship knocked off Cal and SRU. Cal is 0-2 and SRU is 1-1. Bloomsburg is 51-18 against teams from the PSAC Western Division since 1999. If someone has the secret sauce on how to win, please post it here.
I have the secret sauce. Don't get rid of coaches that helped build the program!!! Your stats are flawed. What is Bloomsburg record against the West with Coach Darragh as head coach? Take out the first three seasons with Coach Hale recruits and it can't be good. Coach Darragh is a great coach. I just don't agree with the changes he made. Coach Hale and Coach McBryan were great recruiters of quarterbacks, running backs and linemen. That's all gone now.

IUP pumps all the coin in to three sports. Baseball and others are treated as second class citizens.

Football and Men's and Women's baskeball get the celebrity status.

They were very open about it saying they wanted the Big 3 to be national level competitors (which they all three are). The rest would be just regional level.

I really don't think the AD has that kind of power. Those decisions probably come from higher ups. How do schools get away with it, given the issues of equality in female/male scholarship dollars?

Don't quote me on that - its been some years but I remember reading something to that effect.

I think he/she does but they'd have to use some good data to support it. For IUP they are probably betting that improved basketball and football is a good marketing strategy. It is likely the best way to get IUP mentioned in the Pittsburgh media plus they bring the most people to campus. But this strategy comes with a price: the non-revenue sport coaches need to be kept happy or else their positions will be a revolving door (see: Edinboro women's lacrosse). The non-revenue sports also have to be smaller rosters with low annual cost. Programs like cross country, volleyball, golf, soccer, tennis, and swimming. Those programs tend to attract students based on opportunity rather than money.

What gets in the way are low-revenue programs with big rosters and higher costs. Like lacrosse, field hockey, baseball/softball, and wrestling.

I've. Been complaining about the offensive play calling for 3 years. I also believe one of the reasons McBryan retired was because they were going to a take the OC title from him. I could be wrong. Things will get real interesting of the lose at Mercyhurst because they have Ship, Kutztown then West Chester. When was the last time the Huskies started 1-5?

If you're going to make the argument, don't turn it into silly season. You can actually spell out the precise sports you dislike.

Agreed. And tbh I do not care at all about the damn Dixon trophy. Who cares? I sure don't. The sports I don't care about that I wish Bloom would just forget about are baseball, soccer, lacrosse, cross country, swimming and track and field.

Honestly, I couldn't care less about the Dixon Trophy myself, because it's apples and oranges. Some sports are emphasized by schools; some aren't.

But I'm not too big on dismissing the non-revenue sports, either. Husky, you've got at least one guy pulling a paycheck in pro baseball after his Bloomsburg career. That's on the verge of being a damn good program. In fact, the baseball program probably has more gravitas than the football program right now.

He shared OC responsibilities and was missing much of his final year as he battled prostate cancer.
