    • The stretch from Indiana to Altoona ... hit that at the wrong time and good luck. Nasty up there.

We go up to the IUP at UPJ every year in January. Always a rush coming home.

        • Lol ... yeah J-Town has seen better days. It's rough.

UPJ has a nice campus but it's far removed from downtown ... kind of its own little world.

              • Probably to help pay his tuition?

                • Moving on to Clarion. Tough trip. This is IUP's yearly hangover game after Cal and SRU. Last two years Clarion just about won each game.

They appeared to get out pretty healthy yesterday. If Raunya Mitchel does return it will be a massive boost for the stretch run and playoffs. He was greatly missed yesterday.

                  • Looking at the stretch run here, IUP, in theory, has a pretty smooth path. Anything other than a 10-1 finish would be a major disappointment.

The remaining (5) opponents have a combined 8-21 record.

                    The last five games:

at Clarion - Some issues the past two years. That said, Clarion's lost 3 of 4 and its D has been getting smoked.

LIT-AF - Crimson Hawks love to beat up on these guys.

at Seton Hill - de facto home game for IUP in Greensburg

                    Edinboro - Struggling

at Ship (pending something odd) - Likely the toughest outing of the remaining schedule.

I see no injuries to report...or just plain ole Gamesmanship....

As Coach Tort stated in his show, Clarion plays IUP tough, no matter what issues they have. I just hope the IUP team put Clarion away quickly. I want the backup QB to get some more run. You never know what might happen down the road.

Also Clarion main weapon Mcgriff got hurt 2 weeks ago and did not play vs. Cal. If he doesn't suit up against IUP could be a problem for CU.

Tort alluded McGriff has a fairly serious injury.

                            • Per Matt's article today:

The presesson All-American McAllister is again doubtful. He has missed the past two games.

Cam Suman, Kyeer Geisinger and Drew Stout also will not play. Sounds like Stout is done for the year.

Raunya Mitchell is obviously still out, too.

                              • I think all this concern about "slow starts" is a matter of confusing correlation with causation.

The slow start, or falling behind, against SRU was a result of completely different factors than the slow starts in previous years. In the SRU game IUP just didn't react to what the Rock was doing plus there were mistakes, i.e. the interception return for SRU TD and various penalties. In years past, the slow starts appeared to be a result of just not being amped up for the game and a lot of that seemed to fall on the QB. In past years IUP had slow starts against poor teams. That was a different thing.

I'm not worried about slow starts based on this one game.
