Patullo is done so there is that.Originally posted by KU_2014 View PostKevin Patullo and AJ Brown need to be sent packing from the Eagles. What an embarrassing loss.
AJ Brown was scored as having 3 drops, and Reuben Frank reported that he slowed down on that deep shot early in the game.
Patullo can't scheme anybody open - Rodney Harrison said over on NBC that the 4th down deciding play was one of the most basic plays he's ever seen.
For all the praise that Howie Roseman gets and somewhat deserves, the Eagles are in a bad spot heading into next season and only have like $15 million in cap space. AJ Brown's contract won't be easy to trade and if the other team doesn't take part of his salary, it's a $43 million dead cap hit. They have no receiver depth behind Brown and Smith either - Dotson hasn't been horrible, but he's not a #2 WR either. Reed Blankenship, Jordan Davis, and Nakobe Dean are all free agents. You have no CB2 across from Mitchell, as Adoree Jackson is also a free agent and the Bennett trade didn't work out. I would also argue that OG is an issue, as Steen was a major downgrade from Becton. Fred Johnson is also a free agent that needs to be extended, as he played well in the absence of Lane Johnson - and I suspect Lane may be considering retirement. They have zero pass rush from the DE/Edge spot, which actually makes the defensive play this season look more impressive.
Perhaps this is just me being bitter after an embarrassing loss, and to be fair, the Eagles have been one of the more well run NFL franchises of the last 25 or so years - but it's hard for me to be optimistic about the next few seasons.
They’ll be fine. Howie will fix it.

Patullo was not ready for the job.Originally posted by IUPalum View Post
He's not the problem!!! AJ Brown is the problem! That team is designed to run the ball and AJ's ego and temper tantrums kill what they should be doing on offense.
Sirianni needs veteran coordinators and not guys learning on the job.

That OC was not ready. Most boring and predictable offense in the NFL. With the talent they have, to be that boring and predictable is just not going to cut it.Originally posted by IUPalum View Post

You guys can say he wasn't ready but why was that offense good until AJ Brown started throwing tantrums? All of sudden they started forcing him the ball and they fell flat. Cut the cancer loose abd that is Brown!

I am far from an offensive football genius but the play-calling is just off beat. Last night, they ran when they should pass and they pass when they should run, An offense doesn't become so much less productive in a year unless there is a reason behind it. I think BOTH Brown and Patullo need to go. Patullo's departure will be imminent.Originally posted by Ram040506 View Post

A.J. would be contract (financial) Hell to release, correct? I think it would be like $40-some million in dead cap space.
When these guys go full diva it can get real destructive.

From what I've seen reported, it would be a $43 million dead cap hit if he was traded (unless the team he gets traded to agrees to take some of that salary, meaning it would be a trade like AJ Brown and a 5th round pick for a 6th round pick). I believe a cut would be a $70+ million dead cap hit.Originally posted by IUPbigINDIANS View Post

Sirianni was okay with Steichen as OC..but his replacement was terrible..then Moore unleashed the offense until he got hired in NO. I blame Jeffery Milquetoast too for going with a staff hire with no proven ability when you have a Super Bowl roster.Originally posted by Ram040506 View Post

It wasn’t that good before either. He threw tantrums because he knew Patullo sucked. He certainly did make it worse because then they had to throw to him pushing everything even more off kilter. But the offense was not all that before he went into diva mode.Originally posted by IUPalum View PostYou guys can say he wasn't ready but why was that offense good until AJ Brown started throwing tantrums? Given those $$ numbers I sure wouldn't hold my breath that he's leaving.

I dunno what sort of revisionist history this is but the offense was not good at any point this year. AJ's comments didn't make the offense any worse, it was already awful.Originally posted by IUPalum View PostYou guys can say he wasn't ready but why was that offense good until AJ Brown started throwing tantrums?
