There could certainly be some positives of them lining up a Week 0 throw-away game. Work some kinks out prior to the 'real' opener. But, they'd have to find a peasant willing to play them.
Agreed. I don’t want them to schedule anybody else.

Has Limestone's closing been officially confirmed? I thought they had a week or two to raise funds to stay afloat...

For what it’s worth, they are still on the SAC schedule:

Employees are posting online they've been told the university is closing. The only release from the university is that they're considering online only. Trustees meet April 22.

80% of the students are on a sports team.

              So..there’s a red flag.

They are 6 million in the hole.

30 million in Red. 6M probably needed to have one more semester. Done with sports that’s for sure.

Reminds me of the team that opened up at IUP one season St. Augs . IUP I believe had to promise them gas money for the ride home as there was some noise a few days before the game they weren’t coming do to budget issues.

How much gas could a bus from North Carolina need to travel home? $1,000 each bus maybe? I'm just guessing here.

Yeah they've been in trouble for a while as have several schools in that region: Chowan, St. Paul's, Johnson C Smith, Shaw, Newberry, etc. All are smaller, private schools operating in the shadow of higher profile schools with similar admissions standards. I believe St Augustine's explored a merger with Johnson C Smith and just recently was trying to sell or lease its physical campus. The smaller, less prestigious HBCUs unfortunately have a history of bad leadership that seem to operate with their heads in the sand.

I think it was probably a euphemism for needing some financial guarantee because the school's cashflow was running on fumes. PSAC schools usually ask for the same thing when travelling a decent distance.

They got in to town real late. One of the buses broke down near the PA boarder. If I recall correctly they didn't even come the night before.

Cutting it close to save money on a hotel. Woof.

My only complaint is the 12pm kickoffs. My son's pee wee football season means I'll probably catch zero home games before November.

IIRC, St. Aug's bus broke down on their way to IUP, and they had to use their return gas money to get another bus to come get them and bring them the rest of the way. Their coach told me after the game that he was surprised they even got here to play. Regardless, St. Augs fired him (and the DC) when they got home.
