The MAC never takes FCS teams, let alone D2 teams. If GVSU thinks they can jump straight from D2 to the MAC, they are delusional.

Funny logic considering they have members like freaking Bowling Green and agree to play on Wednesday nights in empty stadiums.

For the record, this is just board rambling. I have no idea what their actual opinion is. I just could never see mighty GVSU agreeing to join some dumpster fire 'D1' league.

They have, but not in almost 30 years when they took Akron, Toledo, and Buffalo.

They also previously took UMass as a football member.

And UMass-Amherst returns to the MAC starting next season as a full member... which makes about as much sense as a California team joining the Atlantic Coast Conference... oh, wait.

Assumption at West Chester for conference championship weekend (11/15) too, per Assumption's website.

                Good game if it happens.

I doubt WCU makes the PSAC Final.

If they do, I wonder if Assumption would play whichever East team is available.

West Chester had to schedule Assumption because of one less team in West (Mercyhurst departure), the other East teams will be playing PSAC West teams, end of season crossovers. So if West Chester makes PSAC Champ game; Assumption would suddenly have a bye

But did The Walk Ons make them aware of that situation? I think it’s irresponsible of them to schedule a game that week when there is a certain shot of them being in the State Game. It’s not a great shot but you never know. The Home Office needs to fix the imbalance.

Said 'fix' may be another school dropping football.

How long is each triad going to have (3) varsity football teams?

Unless NCAA players are deemed employees or somehow mandated to receive only full scholarships I doubt it’ll be any time soon. Football is an enrollment booster (TM) and the schools are sorely in need of enrollment under today’s model.

If Assumption is in the position to win the NE-10, they might as well take the BYE week to get ready for playoffs.

The "Commonwealth University" triad only has two varsity football teams - Bloomsburg and Lock Haven. Mansfield dropped NCAA football many years ago in favor of sprint football.

As for the "Penn West" triad, Clarion seems to be the likely one of the three between them, Cal and Edinboro to drop football. That's just a hunch and nothing more.

And that also puts Assumption at nine D2 football games. I'm pretty sure the folks up in "fake Woos-tah" (that's "Worcester" for you non-New Englanders) were probably aware of the risks when they signed the contract. To be honest, do you really think West Chester will improve enough to overtake Kutztown and/or East Stroudsburg (or, for that matter, Bloomsburg or Shepherd) for the right to get clobbered by Cal or Slippy Rock in the State Game?
